The offensive line has ruined our season, period. Frqnklin's insistence of trying to establish a run game has continually stalled drives or put Clifford in 3rd and long positions where he gets clobbered.
The line has made Clifford carry much more than he should, and his body just cant take it. He is a tough kid, but by the end of the game he looked like his mind was willing but his body was not. Extend that over the season and he's obviously getting broke down. It's sad.
The defense can’t get a stop in crunch time. Bad OL, bad QB’s and below average RB’s. James Franklin won’t be fired but I sure as heck hope he leaves. 6-4 is unacceptable. This is what football teams look like when things are going south that’s why I hope he leaves. Keep finding ways to lose and I don’t see it getting better.

Stop blaming a unit that plays well the whole game, the defense continually gets stops and has to deal with an offense that cant stay on the damn field.
One group plays like chit all damn day, the other is tired by the end of playing well for most of the game. Enough with the defense talk and put the blame where everyone knows it should go.
@roaminglion I’m telling you what I see and I seen the defense not get another stop when the game was on the line it’s a pattern with Brent Pry. What are you going to do in crunch time is what I’m talking about. You keep on blaming Limegrover somebody that has been gone for 2 years.

From my view in the stadium both the O' and D' lines got pushed around once again and as Southern said the D hasn't been getting stops in crunch time during big games for years. Just this season we had leads in the 4th vs Illinois, Iowa and Michigan but failed to keep it.
It's cold and miserable in State College right now and people at the intersection of Garner and Beaver are in a foul mood.

10-9 over the past 2 seasons is even more unacceptable.

I am blaming the offensive line. Period. Limegrover did not do a good job when he was here, and the new guy isn't doing anything so far either.
Nuff said. You want to blame a defense that's in the top 25... go ahead. I'll blame the unit responsible for one of the worst rushing attacks in college football... and the one who gets our QB plastered every game.
But sure, it's the defense's fault when they always hold opposing teams under their scoring average.. Got it.

Beacuse the F'ing offense can't be consistent and score points. 109 yards rushing as a one of the high rushing games, are you fricken kidding me??? QB sacked 7 times!!! 12 tackle for loss, are you fricken kidding me?? If we had a dependable offense it should rely on the defensive stop to win a game!
Take your blinders of brother and see the whole thing for what it is. 75% or more of the failure is on coaching and the offense!!! ALL SEASON LONG AS WELL AS OTHER SEASONS!!!!!
@roaminglion i did blame the OL, QB’s and I said the RB’s are below average but the defense has give up the lead 3 times this year late in the 4th and Iowa and Illinois has bad QB’s Roam. This has been a pattern with Brent Pry

FFS if you put someone consistently in the position to hold onto the game, after repeatedly asking them to be on the field for way more than the other team, any defense is bound to have letdowns. Stop it.
Everyone can see the problem, and it's not the defense. Quit talking about the symptom and start blaming the cause. It's also not the running backs, in one metric I saw our RB's have been hit behind the line more than any other team. That's pathetic and not a RB's fault.
I agree that the O-line is the major problem as it has been ever since JoePa's day. The defense is decent, but I believe the failure to get stops when the game is on the line can be laid at Pry's feet. I don't care for his schemes and don't think he develops players to their full potential. However, in my opinion, the biggest reason we haven't been able to turn the corner is Franklin. His game day coaching is terrible. As other Nits have commented, he always seems to find a way to lose instead of finding a way to win.

Yes the main problem with the team is obviously the offensive line but the D has problems too and players on that side of the ball aren't being developed. It says a lot when probably the 3 best players on defense are all transfers (Brown,Brisker and Ekibetie). I also saw at least 7 missed tackles on Meatchicken's 90 yard touchdown drive in the first half and that had nothing to do with the defense being tired because we were in control of time of possession up until that point.

Agreed - Pry uses a break or bust type mentality. How many times do you see 3 guys blitzing from the same side of the field leaving 1 or more receivers wide open for big splash type plays. Were those errors, and 1 of the guys was supposed to fall back into coverage??? Like the title of this thread - so many "little" things have been troubling this team since Franklin took over. Pry is a good coach but not a great one - gets burned too often. Franklin is a good figure head and recruiter, but a terrible game day coach. Possibly Yurcich is calling 100% of the plays game time, but probably has an edict from Franklin to do X, Y, and Z - thus effecting how the coordinator calls the game. I'm just venting because I'm pissed, I expect much much more from Penn State Football.
No matter what it is - there seems be 1 person making a mistake on every play, both Offense and Defence - costing us victories
Y'all do know we lost by 4 points at the end of the game. If our offense and defense sucked so bad, then Michigan's must only be a tad bit better. I am not happy with 6-4 but once again do y'all know that 50% of all teams lose each week?
@psugrad81 That reminds me of a Lee Trevino quote from back in the day. He said 72% of all putts left short don't go in!
In today's college game giving up 21 points gets you the win about 90% of the time...The offensive line is the reason this team isn't competing for a conference and national championship...The defense has been outstanding...This game shouldn't have been close...The right tackle got beat like a drum...empty trips to the redzone...Terrible play calling...Clifford took a beating...I don't think the kid survives the next 2 games at this rate...The offensive line is an embarrassment...I am also less than impressed with this offensive coordinator as well...The bottom line is Penn State was outcoached in this game today...I believe with the exception of the Offensive Line Penn State had the better personnel...As bad as this OLine is I wonder why they don't give the 2nd team a shot...i don't see how they could be any worse than the starting group...I mean this OLine should be nicknamed the matadors...Ole'! Ole'! Ole'!
Yes, we know the oline is bad, its been talked about ad nauseum but does any body think the running backs really aren't that good, or at least not well coached? They seem slow getting to the outside, when hit they go down and tonight had a hard time catching the ball. What was a strength seems like a major weakness. We were so spoiled with Barkley and Sanders.
Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Barkley, Miles Sanders, Adrian Peterson whoever can't run behind this group of matadors...I firmly believe that if this offensive line was even average this team would be undefeated and eyeballing a conference and national title run...I believe every position group on this team is well above average with the exception of the Offensive Line...
