Few of the local High schools are adopting same protocols as they did in 2020. Late season start, reducing practice hours, no fans until further notice. I expect the same for college. Same as 2020 season. Just not enough time for everyone to get vaccinated. Going to be another tough year for sports.
Why do you feel the need to keep creating threads with the exact same message over and over?
You just keep creating them until you get a response?

? I'm just telling what I heard in the local school districts. This is the first time I posted this. Not sure what you mean.
@forum-titan well if the reason is not enough time to get vaccinated, then it can't be the same as 2020 cause there were no vaccinations 2020. NEXT......

I'm just telling what I've heard from the recent school district meetings. Same protocols are in place. I assume college will follow similar rules.

Tough crowd tonight. Truth is...nobody knows. And, please, don’t anyone make any predictions and say, “Bank on it”. 2021 has to be better than 2020.

Once again. Only dweebs use "bank on it". Those in the know use "lock it".

If they opened up the bars and put the vaccine in beer, we could have everyone vaccinated by next Thursday.
Has anyone received a vaccination??
I will tell where this is going....IMO. The next thing they will start administering is a vaccine card. That card will get you on domestic flights, international flights, sporting events and concerts and anywhere else that has large crowds. Providing a negative Covid test is the beginning and the card will follow.
Regardless, my hunch is they will open Beaver Stadium to a crowd, just not sure at what capacity. The positive case rate is down from 270K a day to 70K a day in the past month and the vaccines haven't even kicked in. PA is down from 15K a day to 4K a day over the last 8 weeks.
From what I have read, Covid 19 is most similar to the common cold. It is here to stay, but once everyone is infected ( by vaccine or by the spread itself) it won't have the punch later it has now. I am not thrilled about getting the vaccine, I would rather see some history first, but I will get it because I believe we have some very educated people in this country ( and world) who know what the heck they are doing.
They told us to wear a mask and now that most people are wearing one, the spread is dropping fast. AND, the common cold and flu is at a 5 year low....hmm???
I have been on at least 20 flights since the start of this pandemic. I have been out to eat here and there, out in public places more than most have been and unless I had it and I was Asymptomatic, I haven't had it. BUT, I wear a mask and I wash my hands frequently and I don't use public bathrooms. Washing your hands is a very key part in avoiding get infected.
Just wear a mask, wash your hands and get vaccinated and we can have a WHITE OUT in the fall!!! This thing can be over in 6 months if every one just sucks it up a little while longer!

I received my first dose last week and will get the second shot in about 3 weeks. My wife has received both shots already due to her position in the hospital. She received the Pfizer vaccine, I got Moderna.

Really tsuga? That's just an old wives tale. In modern medicine everone knows that the antibodies will get drunk, get lost on their way to the bugs thus rendering the vaccine useless.
I have received both vaccine doses. So has my wife. We are both healthcare workers and received the second dose back in early January. It was a weight off both our shoulders even though we both still follow the guidelines with masks, distancing, hand washing etc. My parents just received their first dose and my brother in law and sister in law, who are both teachers, just got their first dose as well. We are hoping this is putting us back on track to having more normal family get togethers in the not so distant future. Yes, the vaccine does come with a card. That isn’t a premonition MtNittany, it is a reality, and if it gets us back to normal, who cares? You are correct also that the numbers are steadily decreasing, so I am optimistic that with the decreasing numbers and increasing vaccinations, brighter days are ahead. If everybody does what is recommended, we should be in a much better place soon. If we had had a plan 8-10 months ago, we may be in a much better place now. Everybody stay safe and look forward to better days.
@lionbacker99. Just my opinion 99 but the teachers should be first to get the vaccine they are on the front line just like healthcare workers are. Give the teachers the shot and get the kids back in school.
@southern-psu-fan I agree. My brother in law and sister in law felt like they were waiting for awhile to get the vaccine, but they are finally getting it. There is a big push to get all the kids back, but not many teachers, ancillary staff, janitorial staff, or bus drivers have had the opportunity to get vaccinated. My opinion is that is key and necessary to getting the schools back to normal. Many of the janitorial staff workers and bus drivers are in the increased risk category and need to be protected. We’ve had a few school districts near us suspend school bus service because the drivers are getting sick. Take care of these people as the essential workers they are.
we had 2 lake effect storms that account for 75% of our snowfall but these monster storms harassing the NE missed us. Not really all that frigid either, typical February with the frozen bay and the ice fisherman.

Here in Oregon, teachers are considered essential workers and are currently getting shots.
@lakerie: Hadnt thought of that. I'll be back with a plan B.
-14 degrees this morning.......not counting the wind chill. How's the weather coming off the lake??
A chilly 71 here... BRRRRR
@navylion: That weather isnt conducive to curling. You might wanna consider a move to the northern climes.
