Experience: Nothing like it, I'm so glad we went and chalked that off my bucket list. It has always been my desire to go to a Penn State bowl game so it couldn't have been more perfect that this one would be the last tradiional RB feature Pac 12/Big 10 schools.Everything went smooth from nervous holidy hangover flights, hotels and light rail transportation from Arcadia hotel to Pasadena. The Rose bowl is beautiful from the historic facility to its location in Pasadena. I will say though it looks so different from what I remember seeing it on tv. Sadly we never made it to the parade...SOMEBODY, not me, had to sleep in!!!

Random Observations: Utah fans are knowledgeable, respectful and friendly. They they have disdain for Ohio fans almost as much as we do. They came out in force for their beloved football team, I think it was 70/30 ratio. Penn State should have won 38-14, could have scored a FG with over 2 minutes to play and 1st. team would have prevented a Utah td with 25 seconds...but what the heck, Franklin showed class. QB Rising is a gritty player and Utah is lucky to have had him and a loss for Texas. Just my opinion but I doubt the score would have changed much had so many Ute players not opted out. As beautiful and historic a the Rose Bowl is, it is so out dated you begin to appreciate Beaver stadium. There were shuttle buses taking fans from town to the RB, it was much easier geting in than out, we decided to take the 2 mile, uphill walk upon return. Pasadena is a beautiful city in the LA metro area and there were some beautiful homes we saw on the walk up the hill. Califoria has homeless everywhere. It wasn't just this trip but something I noted as this was my third trip (for various reasons) to Califorinia this year. We changed planes in Las Vegas, what a dumpy airport. I'm told that it has only rained 3 times at the Rose Bowl since 1955......greaaaaat!

Musings: There was a very beautiful ( and cute ) recent co-ed with her father and brother next to me, so friendly too. My wife could have cared less I talked to her more than my wife. I lost the entire 2nd. quarter of the game to go to the men's room (this place is in need of some serious upgrades). Tecate beer was $18 though they were 24 oz. cans. I had 2. In the shuttle bus line (which took us 45 minutes to board) we talked to a few young Ute', they were hilarious!! Two were students and obiously fans, the other 2 were Brigham Young students wearing Penn State gear telling us.."whoever is playing Utah is our favorite team. Quite a rivalry between BY and Utah!! At one of the Metro rail stations I was greeted by Gerry Garcia, at least that's who he said he was when he asked me for money (funny yet sad too).

This is all I can think of for now but if I remember something of note I'll mention it later. 

Lastly, it's always more fun when your team wins and what a win!! I'm so happy for Clifford playing what arguably was his best career game, going out in style. We are setting up nicely for next year and I am soooo looking forward to it.
