We had OSU beaten maybe 2x but either the Defense tired or maybe the OC decided to play prevent. Maybe the Ghost of JF choking in the big game.
There is that point in any game the underdog is ahead where it seems they start to think instead of play. This is where JF didn't have it and Cael does. This is the same point where the favorite can feel the throat getting tight and they may choke. And again this would be the UCLA/NW games. The trick to playing at a high level is not letting your mind interfere. IMO both JF and DA had problems in this area. Maybe they will always have it maybe one win like Oregon or an OSU game would have helped get them over it. But alas...
I don't think we have done well in the sports psychology area recently. I hated when JF would go on 4th and short on his side of the field. What it communicated to me, the opposition and his own team is 1) I need to take chances (the opponent is better) 2) I don't trust my defense etc. Now I know he spun it as the statistics say...but the statistics aren't based on your offense against their defense. They are general.
