IMO the 4 RB rotation experiment should be over, to me it's obvious who has won the right to be in the backfield. It's Noah Cain and Journey Brown... PERIOD.
Ricky Slade has put the ball on the ground twice, and has not had much success in the running game. He seems like more of a 3rd down style back. To my point, he's averaging 1.8 a carry. I know it's only 12 carries, but all the back haven't had many carries and he's looked the worst.
Devyn Ford might become a very good back, but he's a true freshman that showed up in August. Probably best to Redshirt him IMO. Outside his 81 yard run he's averaging 3 YPC. Not bad and I'm sure he's got talent... but I just don't think it's worth blowing his redshirt when we don't need him.
Journey Brown has shown he's a good back, not great yet but very good. He's broken a nice long run and showed he's able to get some yards in the RPO scheme. He's a different type of runner from Noah Cain, more of an explosive threat. I think he would work well in a 1-2 punch attack with Cain. Outside his 85 yard run he's averaging 4.5 a carry. Again, pretty good.
Which brings me to Noah Cain. IMO, as I said before it's completely obvious that he's our best between the tackles runner. I don't know about his breakaway speed, but if you need a yard he'll get you 3... and I think that's what our offense needs. Someone who will consistently get you those tough yards. A shifty back who may not look flashy, but drives the defense crazy because he gets 3-4 yards when he should have been stuffed for 1. He's averaging 5.4 a carry, and is the most consistent in getting positive yardage.
I agree 100% and I was wrong about Slade being the best back which doesn’t bother me because I’ll pull for the best RB regardless who it is lol
For some strange reason, I believe that the folks that see these RBs every day might just know a bit more about who should be playing than those of us who see them once a week for 3 hours. They will most likely redshirt one of the two true freshmen. Slade does seem to be a third down back, he has made at least two great catches for big yardage this year.

For some strange reason they haven't made up their damn minds about it though, so I'm not really sure what the heck they know about any of them.

I can't figure out why they haven't contacted you for the information. They must not monitor this page. Just playing witcha Roam.

I stand by the opinion I've stated before in a few threads. IMHO these folks have shown that they have a problem at times making decisions!
I think part of it is that they are trying to keep all of em happy but sooner or later they are going to have to hang their hat on one guy with maybe a change of pace guy...I think Cain and Brown will be the 2 guys to lead this backfield at the end of the day...

So let's just shut the page down and stop talking about it... or just rename the page "why say anything the coaches know more then you"
LMAO

Exactly, FD. We gotta stop trying to keep everybody happy! As BT II said, "Damn the portal..."
Nah we're good SPF. Was just agreeing, name a starter, if if the other's don't like it, now a days there's always the portal. Which as why we seem to be taking all the recruits we can get, cover for the upcoming portal participants.
You'd think they'd be all over Cave to get us set up for a round table skype session.
I want in on this, my 2 little cents are burning a hole in my pocket.
