Does anyone really believe that Haskins will be intimidated anymore than Thomas (App State QB) was starting his first game in front of 106,000 screaming fans Whiteout notwithstanding?

Does anyone really believe that PS's defensive front seven will pressure Haskins more that they did against much inferior OL's (first half) in the first four games?

Can anyone provide the number of QB sacks the PS's DE's have for the season to date?

Does anyone believe that if PS's defense  plays to form and waits until the 2nd half to start playing that PS realistically has a "puncher's chance" to win the game?

Wishful thinking leads to dreams that can come true. The Buckeyes are favored and should win the game. But PSU has a decent chance to pull the upset.

Yes, Haskins will have trouble.  He can not move left and right and lives by the long pass.  I agree, the Defense needs to step up right away, but dang did they turn corner against Illinois.  That App State game was just a defensive mess, too many new faces and missing key players caused a lot of that.  The fact that they can adjust and shut people down (now) goes a long way with me.  They will give up points, but not as many as most think....maybe 17 to 21 points.

The flip side is the Ohio State defense.  Their Dline is good, no doubt about it.  But their LB's ?  The are young and get exposed.  Don't think Rahne doesn't know this and don't think for a minute McS won't pick them apart.  I believe PSU will dominate T.O.P and keep Ohio State off the field. Those big D guys from Ohio State....hands on their hips in second half against TCU.

Again, I am sticking with my outrageous prediction.  McSorley get's the Offense going early, controls the clock and burns Ohio State on the pass ALL night long. Defense stays off the field, keeping rested enough to make those BIG bring the house blitzes against Haskins....and he get's sideways.  PSU by 32.

"Intimidated" is a strong word.  Hopefully a little distracted.

PSU's going to have to play a great game to win.  But it's happened before, and I'm excited to see if it can happen on Saturday.

Hey mb hope everything is well brother,

the 2 biggest things we need to do to win is catch the football and don’t put it on the ground.  (IF) we do these 2 things we win the game if we don’t we lose. I’m going with 38-35 penn st baby.

It will be a great night for college football and the B1G. Hopefully each team plays well and there are no injuries. The best team doesn’t always win.

SPF, I really never thought I'd ever post this but MtNittany's prediction of a 32 point PS win is more optimistic than something that not even you would predict! Is that even possible? Lol

I’m just trying to connect the dots but I think he meant if we can keep Ohio st from scoring 32 points lol. I just don’t know if the defense is where it needs to be because of injuries and graduations from last year. From what I see it’ll be next year before the defense is fixed but I do see them getting better every snap. I don’t care what kind of dmstud they are in high school when you’re starting freshmen LBers it’s not good. We’ve either missed on one or 2 or this is where the sanctions still hurt. I know the sanctions are over but coming out of the death penalty sanctions penn st was under you don’t recover in 3 years I’m sorry, James Franklin just makes it look easier than it is. Bottom line is if we catch the football and don’t put it on the ground I think we win but by 3 not 32 lol

SPF, I agree completely about the LB's and the sanctions. Also, believe too much was expected from Parsons too early. Especially,  as a freshman playing in a new position. As I've posted previously, it really hurt them when Rivers opted for VTech.

I'm thinking he'll need at least 3 series to settle down.  I'm hoping to see the crowd effect the offensive line in that they jump offsides or mess up the snap due to the noise level.  I'm concerned about our LB play in that they need to maintain their gaps discipline and shed blocks faster than what they have been.  I'm concerned that if we fall behind in the first half, we wont be able to make the defensive adjustments at halftime like we had in the past.  We need a big play or two on defense to swing momentum our way.  A two back set would also be nice to see a few times just to give the OSU's defense something to think about.

Lastly, I'm hoping we can stay injury free as our depth at some positions still has me concerned.  I'm looking forward to a great game!!

WE ARE!!!!

First of all...Haskins is a first year sophomore, Haskins had some experience

2nd, no way to compare 106k daytime game against what most thought was an east opponent to the atmosphere generated in the white out game.

Third....PSU record in white out games shows it doesn't mean much

in conclusion, we'll find out tomorrow!  LOL!

OSU has 15 sacks, PSU has 14 sacks.

Some more questions:

Does anyone believe McSorley will play poorly?

Does anyone believe Sanders will be held in check by an OSU defense that has routinely given up big plays?

Does anyone believe TCU is better than us? If not... Why would anyone expect OSU to walk through us?

"Does anyone believe McSorley will play poorly?" Question is will McSorely play better? His 54% completion rate thus far this year does not compare to last year's rate. Regardless of the reason, he will have to have a higher completion rate if PS expects to keep drives alive and not turn the ball over to OSU on punts.

McSorley is going to be the difference in this ballgame and the reason I believe Penn State will win...His steady and smart play is going to be the difference...The OSU QB has NEVER played in an environment like this...He is going to struggle snapping the ball with the crowd noise...The OLine is going to struggle getting off the ball...The environment is going to be a factor in this ballgame and to think otherwise is just being naïve...There is no doubt in my mind that this ballclub is every bit as physically gifted, athletic and fast as Ohio State and as a result I expect them to handle OSU tomorrow because of McSorley and the environment...

McSorely will play good I just hope he gets help from the WR’s. That 54% is very deceiving because of the drops. McSorely has played lights out all year IMO. I’d like to know how many drop ball he’s had, I’d say around 15 to 20? Catch the ball and don’t put it on the ground and we win.

I'm so sick of hearing about McSorley's completion rate considering all the drops the recievers had in the first 3 games.

My post above Roam lol. Maybe you know? 54% is VERY deceiving. I think mb is saying the same thing we need to catch the ball so his completion rate is better .

I agree with that!  Can't hurt ourselves with drops, though I think we figured things out on that front last week.  Hopefully

A lot of them drops   Would have been first down and long plays too. Not to mention a couple were for touchdowns.   Extending drives tomorrow and keeping their offense off the field will be huge for us in this game. Come out tomorrow score and shut them down on defense. Get in Haskins head  Play smart on all 3 phases.  And no penalties. We should come out with a win
