Very simple. Next man up!
Not surprising, he was named the favorite shortly after Mendenhall retired.
It appears as though we may not be losing him afterall.

What a steaming pile of poo. Poindexter is a graduate of UVA and this guy wants us to believe he actually said that in an interview? Oh please... Not a good look for UVA, seems like sour grapes or face saving BS. Even if he did say that, it's a signal to every coach out there that whatever you say in an interview is going to be public. What a great way to limit the people willing to talk to you.
Whoever "leaked" that was not smart.
@t-hale I don't at all. I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone that has been in the coaching profession for any reasonable amount of time in Div I college football would be dumb enough to insinuate anything like that during an interview for a HC position!
@been-there-ii who is niccy??
Niccy is our troll who post outlandish stuff who changes his nic frequently, AKA forum titan/Snake oil and many others. He is the one they refer to from Aristes in the coal region who is the Rutgers fan
Harvard has a few “special” slots for some of their athletes. Those special admits are still darn smart kids but without help, they would never be admitted to the school. Virginia could certainly relax the requirements for their football players and still maintain a decent standard. If they want to be competitive with the big boys they should play by the same rules.
UVa faces the same problem a lot of programs face; they can't recruit the top notch players that get you over the hump year in and year out due to coaching, regional location, yeah maybe some academics thrown in, etc..
If I remember correctly, there was a ND coach saying the same thing years ago about ND, was that Kelly?
It's just an excuse, I seriously doubt UVA's basketball program is having a hard time with academic standards.
@t-hale What Navy said and when 4um Tighten says. I heard a rumor about a local HS team, then adds (paraphrasing here)But I don't spread rumors, so I can't share what I heard. However, when it's a, typically false, rumor about PSU, he happy to tell us what he heard. Said PSU rumors are usually collaborated by his " PSU fan, blue collar, union brother, coworkers." (not sure what being union or a blue collar worker has anything to do with said rumors being factual, but hey, makes for a better story in his mind I suppose)
It's the toxic fumes from the Centralia mine fire!
