Wouldn’t it be nice if we were playing Pittsburgh today instead of UMASS? Get this nonsense off the schedule and get Pittsburgh back every year. If Ga Tech and play Ole Miss and Georgia, Penn St can play WV and Pitt. We gain nothing by playing UMASS smh
Yea Southern. I wish every school in the country put a stop to it. It's a complete joke. Nothing but nonsense. Nothing is gained by scheduling lower tier schools. Stay in your own league.
So our schedule should get a little more competitive while schools in the ACC continue with their cakewalk conference schedule and SEC teams have their week in the middle of the season where most of them play FCS schools ? Makes no sense at all.
@psujoe I could care less about the conference I’m just trying to get better OOC games. We already played Delaware homer and now UMASS and it ain’t like WV is a powerhouse. You said the ACC is weak so why not play an ACC team Pittsburgh?
@southern-psu-fan no I didn’t say the ACC is weak , I said it sucks. Playing Pitt would be a more competitive game than playing UMASS but why should PSU play a more competitive schedule when the best team in the ACC cakewalks it’s way into the playoff and the SEC plays FCS schools? Makes no sense at all.

If Alabama can play Texas, we can play Pitt. As Southern stated, we already played FCS Delaware.
That said... I am fine swapping WVU for Pitt. Since we only play 3 OOC games instead of 4 like the SEC, I'd like one of them to be Pitt every year. After that the other 2 can be one FBS and one FCS for all I care.
I just want the rivalry back
If the goal is a more competitive game than UMASS and you want it to be an annual game then there has to be something in it for us . We gain nothing by playing sPitt and owe them no favors.
I dont care about favors or even more competition to be honest, I just want that rivalry back.If the goal is a more competitive game than UMASS and you want it to be an annual game then there has to be something in it for us . We gain nothing by playing sPitt and owe them no favors.
With a 12 team playoff there's no reason for more competition anyway.
I couldn’t care less if we ever play sPitt again and also couldn’t care less about giving them the exposure and spotlight that nardoozi will gain by playing us. Doozi don’t care about the rivalry, he wants the exposure and publicity. We gain nothing by playing them and I don’t see PSU giving up a home game every other year.
I am not scared of Pitt or Narduzzi. So I don't give a damn about whatever exposure they getI couldn’t care less if we ever play sPitt again and also couldn’t care less about giving them the exposure and spotlight that nardoozi will gain by playing us. I'd rather see PSU play Suckasscuse.
@been-there-ii Me too brother. Penn St can join the ACC and play Pitt and Syracuse every year lol
Looks like Lincoln Riley still doesn’t know how to play defense. Oklahoma and USC get the talent so it’s gotta be him.
@psujoe why Syracuse over Pitt when Pittsburgh in in the same state? It looks to me playing Pitt would help Penn St recruit Pennsylvania better homer? We do great in Pennsylvania but it still might get one or two other players that might make a difference. Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Texas all play their state rivals. Not playing Pitt every year might have cost us the 1 or 2 players that could’ve helped beat Ohio St and Michigan more years?
@southern-psu-fan PSU already dominates sPitt when it comes to instate recruiting, fanbase, media coverage, tv ratings and everything else to do with college football. We gain nothing by playing them.
Then why say you care about exposure? Who cares.@roaminglion Has nothing to do with being scared of sPitt.
It is a traditional rivalry, plain and simple. The Pensylvania Classic. Not some trumped up quasi rivalry because Sue Paterno painted the lion shrine orange. Lmao.
All kidding aside... I get it with Syracuse, but I'd prefer Pitt.
I personally would prefer WVU or MD as our annual rival.
We gain nothing by playing Syracuse, WVU, or any other schools in the northeast really. Except rivalry.@southern-psu-fan PSU already dominates sPitt when it comes to instate recruiting, fanbase, media coverage, tv ratings and everything else to do with college football. We gain nothing by playing them.
Pittsburgh has some very good football players and if we played them every year we might pick up an extra player or 2 that’s helps you win NC’s just like I believe Penn St being in the big 10 helps Ohio St recruit. Ohio St and won shit in 20 years before Penn St got in the big 10. I believe not playing Syracuse, Pitt and WV has cost us more top players that could’ve helped win more games.
@roaminglion yes we do, we gain exposure and publicity for at least one week in an area we’re currently not receiving it.
@southern-psu-fan PSU is already huge in Pittsburgh, Every time I’ve been in that city during football season I’m surprised by the amount tv and media coverage we receive vs them.
We dominated recruiting in the Northeast and have for years. We dominated the DMV before Maryland or Rutgers came into the Big Ten. So what exactly have we gained from playing either of those teams? Nothing. We always recruited well in those areas whether we played them or not. Just my opinion.@roaminglion yes we do, we gain exposure and publicity for at least one week in an area we’re currently not receiving it.
If it's about adding exposure and getting more eyeballs... why play teams in the northeast at all? Play in California, Texas, and the soutbeast if you want that.
@psujoe when it comes to recruiting In Penn St football there’s a hand full of people I trust and homer knows is one of ‘em so I do believe you. I guess for me it’s more about being old school liking rivalry games and as a kid growing up I always love the Penn St/Pitt games.
Remoh, my son told me Penn St paid UMASS over 1.5 million dollars to play that game. If that’s true how much money does schools make off these games? Man I bet the Ohio St/Penn St game brings in a boatload of money lol. He’s on all the Twitter crap and all during the games I guess he read it somewhere.
