For the upcoming October 11 Penn State vs. Northwestern game, Penn State is a large favorite, with odds around Penn State -21.5 and the total set at 48.5. While Penn State is heavily favored, they have a poor record against the spread this season, going 0-5, making Northwestern a potentially interesting bet for those looking to exploit this trend.

For as bad as it is for Franklin and the current situation, I still feel bad for the guy. He's only Human. Invested so much time and effort in bringing out the best of Penn state football program when it was sinking post sanctions.
I don't feel sorry for him 1 bit...This is a performance based business and you are judged on 1 thing...Did you win or did you lose...He has been paid a kings ransom for his services which in my opinion are no longer needed based upon the performance the last 2 ballgames...He is a big boy and he knows the way this thing works...

I understand that, but some disregard for what coaches did for the community, school, student achievement, development for both athletics and being professional when football is no longer a part of your life.
@the-funeral-director Based on his performance over the last 6 games he needs to go!
Myself or anyone on this forum among thousands of fans can go on YouTube or any other sports platforms and find 100s of videos right now on the loss to UCLA and demand for the firing of JF.
What you won't find is any sympathy or concern for what his contributions were to making something better and the effort put in.

Ok, so they fire him? Then what ? I wouldn't expect any miracles in 12 months for the 2026 season. It takes time to build football programs. They might fire JF and end up with some situation that is worse.
@the-funeral-director exactly FD! We watched McSorely sit on the bench, we watched Parsons sit on the bench, we watched the starting kicker we have now sit on the bench while other dudes were on the field that didn’t give us the best chance to win. Pribul, Lambert Smith and Wallace got run out of town. To many mess ups. I like James Franklin and I’m still pulling for him but his time at Penn St is up imo
Best thing that could happen to JF is win out, go to the playoffs, pull off a mircle, and then get the hell out of dodge while the iron is hot. He'd have his pick of openings in that scenario, and be able to wash his hand and say, I did it, time to go help someone else.
I have a feeling this game will either be a nail biter win by either team or a complete blowout in which PSU easily covers the spread.
