Out for Maryland and probably Rutgers. Will be interesting if he will be back for real games against PSU and Michigan. Should be fun to watch the talk about this.
If it truly was a family friend and not an exorbitant amount, I see no issue with a college football player doing this. The NCAA is a joke and proved it with Cam Newton's dad getting a "donation" to his church, and all the other non-sense they let slide at UNC and the Arizona basketball issues. I would even lean towards no suspension if what the kid is saying is proven to be true. For goodness sake, they aren't even allowed to have a job.
Wonder what he needed the loan for:
Did his shoes have holes in them and needed a new pair...
Was he hungry and needed it to eat?
Did he need the money for rent?
Did his car break down?
Did a tattoo need touched up?
Did he fail a class and need to pay out of pocket to take it again?
Did he need new clothes?
Was the electricity and water shut off and he needed to get it turned back on?
Did he take a loan from a family friend to pay back this loan?

I'm guessing it could come from mom and dad or his legal guardian...
There needs to be rules in place and some one to enforce them but I agree the NCAA needs to be overhauled and be consistent on those rules.
If the person that loaned the money is not affiliated with OSU or an agent this should be a non-issue
Tough chit they hammered my Yellow Jackets in basketball so Ohio st can pay the price to because the rules are the rules. The crooked ncaa already let the race pimp Justin Fields transfer without sitting out a year because he felt threatened at Georgia but left his sister there lol gimme a break. Ole Delany stepped in on that one you can take that to the bank!
I sense you are a bit angry. It is looking more and more like a 2 game max suspension.....just in time for the PSU game. Great, he'll be playing even more angry against us.
Honestly, I hope he does play against PSU and I hope the O'line steps up and puts him on his ass and I'm being serious.
Let’s make one thing clear. “Family friend”.....”since his freshman year”. ....that is not a family friend. It’s an acquaintance. Number two, “need” is ridiculous. More like want. These kids are WELL taken care of.

Per NBC Sports: According to a league source, the "family friend" who loaned Chase Young the money is an NFLPA-certified agent.
Ohio st might have to forfeit all the games he played in this year if that’s the case? Depends on what ole Jim says nothing more and nothing less.

No idea, though I do know that if it's true he's done at Ohio State. Can't take money from an agent, as soo as you do you're done.
Looks like OSU cherry-picked 2 games to suspend him in hopes that that would satisfy the NCAA.
Didn’t Curtis Enis except a suit and a watch from an agent? He was suspended for the bowl game against Florida. Was that the NCAA and Penn State suspending him ?
If this person who "loaned" him this mo ey is an agent or an OSU alum or booster this kid is finished...no way he plays another down at Ohio State...I can tell you the first things we were told when we got on campus...No gambling or affiliations with professional gamblers, casinos etc....No drugs and No money to be accepted from any boosters or agents... Case closed...If indeed this person who gave him this loan is an agent or booster from the school he is finished...thats all there is to it...
It is starting to sound like he is done on other sites. After a monster game against Wisconsin and Heisman hype, a number one draft choice was all but assured. No reason to play any more and risk getting hurt. I think him not playing vs PSU makes it close to even game. With him, I don't think PSU would have had much of a chance. Doesn't matter if we don't win today though.

Joe suspended him. FYI Joe Jurevicius also was not allowed to play in that bowl game, grades. Those two were a large percentage of PSU's offense that year and we lost the bowl game to Florida.
We had the ball inside the 5 about 10 times during the game and we couldn’t get in. We would’ve beat Florida by 3 TD’s if Curtis played. I remember Jesse Palmer saying we beat penn st because we out rum ‘em lol. They won because most of our offense didn’t get to play.....period

Not so much on College Game Day through my ears. They are saying, and I’m paraphrasing, it’s a minor infraction punishable by the severity of the infraction and will miss 2 games, back in time for Penn State and Michigan. They went on to say what a wonderful student he is, team leader, walks on the moon, feeds the homeless, cured cancer AND the common cold singlehandedly defeated the Germans at Normandy...ok I exaggerated just a bit. You get it though.
Suit seemed like a minor infraction. For the awards ceremony it was normal to wear a suite. I'm guessing he didn't have one. I'm sure there was a way to get one correctly but maybe he was too embarrassed to ask. PSU Must have had some sport coats or something? That's what I remember. I remember thinking it was pretty tough but those were the rules ... back in the old days.
Think the loan was $10 for a lunch 😊 But remember the OSU QB (Pryor) that got a really nice 'loaner' car because his was in the shop for an exaggerated period of time. Nothing ever came of that. Car dealer was obviously a 'booster' and I doubt they could prove anyone else got such a great deal.
Who knows what will happen, the only consistent thing with the NCAA is the inconsistency.
Reports are that Chase Young will get a 4 game suspension, but depending on the appeal it could be reduced by a game or two.
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather play OSU at full strength... but reducing it by two games would make the NCAA look like a joke. What is your punishment? "Well I miss two cupcakes but the NCAA is letting me play in the two most important games of the year. Couldn't have me missing those!"
Most other players are following the rules, and this "he's being honest" rhetoric is making me sick. NO HE ISN'T... He just got caught, so he came clean. It's not like he just all of a sudden decided to tell people, someone found out and he had no other option.
Am I the only one that sees the irony in the fact that our starting DL is sitting out today's game for spitting a hocker on another player while this idiot will probably get a slap on his wrist for this infraction. And let's be clear, those of us that have participated in any sport at this level KNOW not to do this. It was seriously drilled into us ad nauseam on a seemingly endless basis. This kid knew exactly what he was doing, thumbed his nose at the rules, and is now not sorry that he did it, but sorry that he got caught. What pisses me off is the whole "family friend" cock and bull story. Thwe numbnuts in Columbus may buy that one but any reasonably intelligent person knows that one aint gonna pass the sniff test.
But who the heck are we kidding?? This is OSU, they're not gonna have a darn thing happen to them. Nobody has said a thing about Strauss, why should we expect anything will come of this?? Self-reported my ass.......this was a well orchestrated move to make sure he sits for one or two meaningless games. I'd be interested to hear what Zack Smith's take is on all this. Does anyone have a link??
The timing of this certainly is interesting isn't it...I believe they (OSU) got wind of a story coming out on this and they beat the scoop to the punch...Bulldawgs is absolutely correct...As I posted above...they hammered us the first meeting when we arrived on campus...NO gambling, associating with professional gamblers or casino's...NO drugs of any kind...Do NOT accept any money from boosters, alums or agents...Period...A zero tolerance policy...I am very curious to find out what happens with this kid...If and I say IF this "family friend" is an agent...There is no way he plays another down in college football...Honest to God there is no excuse and you are right my friend Bulldawgs...If they sweep this under the rug you really know the whole thing is a crooked farce...
That was his last collage game I believe Ncaa suspended him but he did not play in any games after the infraction.
