After all this back and forth I think it's good to say I'm glad we can all talk and respect each other's opinions. Southern, you're great and I know that you know I disagree with ya sometimes and argue but still respect you and whatever opinion you have.
Same goes for the rest of you. Always good to get that out there.
That said, I really hope to not talk about any of this anymore... because it means football is back and we can talk about that,
You should see me corner these Republicans down here lol. I call it as I see it but that doesn’t mean I won’t change my mind the next day because I might learn something new especially dealing with sports and politics. Like I told 99 I hope trump wins but if Biden wins I’ll be his biggest cheerleader because I’m USA first political party 2nd. It’s like not pulling for Penn State because you don’t like the coach that just don’t make since to me I pull for Penn State regardless who the coach is. I never root against the USA...period. I enjoyed the talk with you and 99 roam no hard feelings here and I agree I’m ready for some penn state football talk
Not on here but I believe there were many on Penn Live that was pulling for penn State to have a losing season so James Franklin would get fired and I just don’t understand that thinking and I look at the presidents of the USA the same way if they do good the country does good it’s that simple and if they do bad then vote ‘em out but if they win get on the bandwagon baby lol. I’m not a sour person and I love bandwagons
Roam and Southern, I appreciate the conversation the last few days. I have no ill will or hard feelings whatsoever. This is the beauty of democracy. As you can tell, I’m pretty passionate about this election. I haven’t ever felt this strongly about an election before. This country gets more divided day by day and it isn’t good for long term success.

I absolutely agree. There are a subset of fans that will never move on from Joe and I think they have made it difficult for BO’B and Franklin to put their individual characteristics on the team, which is too bad. I think both guys were the right guys at the right time for the program. Franklin holds those boys to a high standard. Good for him. I hope he reaches his goal of becoming the first black college coach to win a national championship. It would be awesome if he did that at PSU. WE ARE.....
99, I was raised Democrat but I listened to the mouth of the south Neil Bortz and he always had a guy from DC on his show Jamie Dupree and that guy reported accurate news not one side or the other and he let you make up your own mind and if I remember right he didn’t even vote because he wanted to stay neutral because he was a true journalist. He said politics is a hard nasty fight every day so enjoy your life and let the politicians fight it out because that’s why you elected them. He said this is exactly what the founding fathers wanted is for them to fight their butts off to get anything done because you really don’t want them getting much done because it would destroy the country because of knee jerk reactions. We want chuck Schumer on one side watching Trump just like we want Lindsey Gram on the other side watching Obama. If we have one party running everything we will have a dictator one day and we don’t want that. Look up the dude and read some of his stuff because he’s good and honest. Enjoy life and let trump and chuck fight it out ain’t no reason for us to be mad to lol. Remember they drink wine together at the end of the day
Well my man Southern I have to take issue with you saying Neil Bortz is a neutral guy...I listened to him from time to time for amusement purposes only...I understand that he is a lawyer by trade...I would love to have a live debate with any or all of them cause most of the garbage they spew isn't true and is easily debunked if you take the opportunity to actually look up what they are saying...Anybody that says you don't need to watch the news or look anything up cause all you have to do is listen to me is full of crap...It's as if all of these fools get a script first thing in the morning and beat the script to death all day long to try to convince you that the nonsense and garbage they are spewing is the truth...
As far as Senators and congressman having wine and dinner together at the end of the day...That isn't near as pervasive as it once was...The truth is what you are seeing is more or less what you are getting...Many of these people don't like each other and it is as visceral in private as it is in public...It isn't like the old days with Tip O'Neill and Reagan...As a result this is why Washington is broken...
The one issue that angers me the most is voter suppression...This is the United States of America...We pride ourselves on being the guiding light of democracy...You veterans and folks out there still serving are fighting for that fundamental right and freedom...Making people stand in lines for 12 hours to vote cause they are poor or a minority is wrong...Simple as that...I can't understand why election day isn't a national holiday? Nothing is more important than our elections and EVERYBODY should not only have the opportunity to vote but should be encouraged to do so...My question is why is it that one particular party has a problem with people voting?
lol, Neil is a butthole lol I said Jamie Dupree is neutral not Neil. Neil is kind of neutral he doesn’t like anybody lol. The 2 party system is great just let the politicians fight it out that’s why we elected them there’s no reason to get upset let them get upset. If your man don’t win tough $hit get ‘em next time that’s what’s made this country great. If one party runs everything we’ll end up with a dictator down the road. Our 2 party’s are somewhat corrupt but it’s the best in the world and I’ve got proof, we live in the best country in the world. Just saying FD not talking at you brother
My opinion is the founding fathers wanted people in office that weren't interested in money. I don't think they could ever envision they kind of cesspool Washington DC has become today. I've become so jaded recently about all of em, because nothing ever seems to get done yet they all seem to make a lot of money anyway.
Get money out of politics and maybe we can get back to Congress actually giving a damn and not caring about what lobbyist has the deepest pockets.
Most founding fathers hated political parties. Hamilton called them “the most fatal disease” while James Madison said a well-constructed Union should be “its tendency to break and control the violence of faction." Heck, when George Washington left office he said: "The common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it." All of them hated political parties, but also viewed them as necessary evils. However, constrained evils where the nation never took a back seat to a party.
I think we all could see when Mitch McConnell held up the selection of SCOTUS for a year so a Republican could get to pick, then said he'd rush to pick another one if Trump was still in office before a Democrat took over, that we've crossed that bridge and parties only care about themselves.
Democrats, Republicans, whatever. Opposit sides of the same coin IMO... but effing suck and until we modernize are elections and get money out it's gonna be that way.
Monderize?
1. Get rid of the electoral college. Stop this nonsense of claiming it's about balance. It's not, and it never was. If you read the founding fathers documents it was clearly about slavery (3/5 compromise) and controlling the vote of a very young country. Congress was about balancing power between small states and large states, the electoral college vote for President has nothing to do with it. It's like saying 250 years ago the founding fathers would have known one political party would dominate rural areas while another would dominate urban areas. How would they possibly know that? Just a ridiculous notion.
2. Get rid of Gerrymandering. You know what happens when a Republican isn't afraid of a Democrat taking their seat? Another, more right wing extremist comes along and primaries them. That's a big reason we are getting so polarized. Same thing for the Dems...
3. Citizen's United. "Money is Speech" GTFOH. Dumbest SCOTUS ruling in years.
4. 4 or 6 year terms for House members. 2 years is ridiculous, they get elected and turn around immediately campaigning for re-election. When can they ever do their job?
5. Term limits on Congress. Limit the Senate to three 6 year terms, and the House to four or five 4 year terms. That's 34-38 total years in Congress if they sit on both the Senate and House. It's enough.

How to modernize?
1. Get rid of the electoral college. Stop this nonsense of claiming it's about balance. It's not, and it never was. If you read the founding fathers documents it was clearly about slavery (3/5 compromise) and controlling the vote of a very young country (they were worried that people would vote for the King of England... go look this up for yourself). Congress was the entity they created for balancing power between small states and large states, the electoral college vote for President has nothing to do with it. It's like saying 250 years ago the founding fathers would have known one political party would dominate rural areas while another would dominate urban areas. How would they possibly know that? you might be right roam but that’s a lot of wishful thinking. I don’t think you could get this done if the LORD JESUS himself came down and told ‘em to do it lol

It's not wishful thinking, it is what needs to happen. Of course it won't happen all at once but someone needs to do something.
I believe you hit the nail right on the head Roam...First cut off the money...Use PBS as the campaign channel where the candidates can campaign for FREE and each one gets the same amount of time...Money is the root of it...K Street is unreal...You know who the biggest single lobbyist in DC? China...and K Street is really the center of the cesspool is. I couldn't agree more on the term limits...I say 2 terms for the Senate and 4 terms for congress and then your out...You have people there now in their 80's that have spent 40 years there...Time for them to go...I still believe it all begins with fair and open elections...Let the people vote...I also think the Gerrymandering needs to be corrected and the whole judicial system needs to be cleansed from these activist judges that have been appointed...One final thought...Reagan did away with the fair broadcasting laws...there needs to be a stop put to the one sided radio and have equal time for each side as opposed to this right ring radio jammed down your throat all day long...That's about all i have for now...hahahahaha
