UCLA Gymnast Jordan Chiles Loses Appeal to Retain Bronze Medal
If I’m understanding this right our girl won 3rd place on an appeal or something and because it was 4 seconds too late to appeal they’re wanting the medal back?
Yup. Rules are you need to contest the ruling after a certain amount of time, and her coach waited too long.UCLA Gymnast Jordan Chiles Loses Appeal to Retain Bronze Medal

However, the US says they have evidence that the coach contested the ruling earlier but I guess it didn't hold up.
It may have been a challenge but if it’s the right call she shouldn’t have to give anything back that’s BS especially since they already give her the medal. Assuming I’m reading the article correctly.
Not allowing the challenge is the right call, because it's the rule. Can't follow the rules, you don't get the challenge. Pretty simple. It may have been a challenge but if it’s the right call she shouldn’t have to give anything back that’s BS especially since they already give her the medal. They mess up the scoring and fix it and give our girl the win but still say she lost..that stinks
We challenged and they gave it to us. The other team then challenged and they gave it to them. They mess up the scoring and fix it and give our girl the win but still say she lost..that stinks
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
@roaminglion not really because our girl won by points but because the challenge was 4 so called second late they let the girl that lost have the win…that’s BS. The only way win should be overturned is if there was cheating. If they want to make the loser a medal so be it but our girl keeps the medal that was one fair and square. Had the judges got it right to begin with our girl wins and that’s all that should matter but that’s not the world we live in today. If our girl had lost I wouldn’t have a problem giving the other girl the medal.
All I am going to say is this: What are rules good for if no one follows them. Huh?@roaminglion not really because our girl won by points but because the challenge was 4 so called second late they let the girl that lost have the win…that’s BS. All of your talk just boils down to "I don't think it's fair that the USA had to follow a well known rule, it's BS and it shouldn't matter"
