Baylor loses their starting quarterback in the first half, and Oklahoma needs overtime to win. Hard to say that Oklahoma is really deserving of the #4 spot, but really there's no one else to put in there if Georgia loses.

It looks as though the people in Norman will get to see their Sooners lose in the semi-finals for a fourth time.

I’m not sure why you don’t think they are deserving. They beat a pretty good Baylor team and with the win today have 3 wins against Top 25 ranked teams. The other fringe playoff teams do not have wins against 3 ranked teams.  At 12-1 they are probably deserving of the 4th spot as long as  LSU, Ohio st and Clemson all win their games. Who would you put in ahead of Oklahoma?

Oklahoma has only played one ranked team: Baylor. No one else on their schedule is ranked.

If we're talking Conference champions, I'd put in Oregon over them. They beat a higher-ranked team in Utah, beat another ranked team in USC, and have a similar loss to an unranked team... Actually a better loss considering when Oklahoma lost to Kansas State they were never really in the game. It was a blowout that looked close late.

Unlike Oklahoma, Oregon actually played a team with a pulse outside of their conference in Auburn... and were missing five wide receivers when they did. Oklahoma is going because they played in the terrible conference and didn't play anyone outside of it. They would get destroyed by Auburn.

Oklahoma played Baylor twice (ranked both times), Oklahoma St (#25), and Texas (ranked when they played). I wasn’t even really considering Texas in the argument but they were #11 when they played in the Red River shootout. Utah beat zero ranked teams. They were ranked so high because of the record they had but their body of work wasn’t good, so that hurts Oregon’s cause. Plus, Oregon started the weekend ranked #13 in CFP rankings. They most likely aren’t leapfrogging 9 spots to get into the playoffs. Now, if you want to talk about all conference winners getting an automatic spot in the playoffs, I’m in favor of that, along with expansion to 8 teams.

The committee set up the B1G 12 Championship as a play in game. That’s why the two teams were ranked next to each other. As long as the favorites win tonight, Oklahoma most likely is in.

Oklahoma has a wrestling team, Baylor doesn’t. That’s why the Sooners emerged victorious.

Utah was ranked ahead of both teams, so I don't think it was. Had Utah won neither OU or Baylor was going

Fair enough. Can’t argue with that.

You may be right. However, the argument could have then been made that the OU/Baylor winner would have had a win over a higher ranked opponent and they would have jumped over Utah. I’m not bashing Utah as I think they are a really good team and I really think their coach is one of the best in the country. They would have been a very tough opponent for PSU in the Rose Bowl Bowl. I just think the others have a better overall resume.

I am not sold on the Big 12. The only two ranked teams in the conference were Baylor and Oklahoma. Baylor beat no one ranked, and OU beat Baylor. That's it.

I’m not saying they are credible. All I’m saying is that OK has a better resume than Oregon. The PAC 12 is not that good either. For the record, OK St is currently ranked #25 in the CFP rankings.

The PAC 12 has the same amount of ranked teams as the Big 12. Utah, Oregon, and USC. USC is not that good and is begging for a reason to fire their coach, but it seems as though the position didn’t garner the interest they thought it would.

Bottom line is as long as this format is in place, we’ll be having this argument annually. All the major conference winners should get a spot in the playoff. I’d love to see both Oregon and OU get in, but that is unlikely. An 8 team playoff makes so much sense is comical, but it won’t happen until the geniuses that make those decisions decide it is best financially. Because that’s what drives all these decisions...money.

You are right, Ok State was ranked #25. My issue with Oklahoma is they routinely lose in the CFP, and IMO they will again. 4th time now.

I think Alabama is in because OK didn't blow out Baylor, Utah lost and historically Alabama and Clemson should be in based on prior history.  If OSU loses then neither Wisky or OSU should be in since they beat nobody but B10 Patsies and LSU and AL should both be in.  Maybe even Auburn.

Alabama has ZERO wins vs the current top 25 CFP ranked teams. None. Zilch. Zippo. Their best win was against TX A&M when A&M was ranked 24. A&M went on to finish 7-5. Bama’s resume is weaker than a wet paper bag this year. Oregon will get in before they do. If they get in, it’s on reputation only, not body of work this season and the committee will look like total hypocrites.

I just hope Wisconsin can hang on but I’m not going to hold my breath. 99, James Franklin has dominated Wisconsin and Iowa and these are the 2 teams everybody is always wanting our OL to be like and James Franklin has dominated both teams. I still don’t see the OL problems I see plays not being executed when our players are in position to make the plays.

No way you can leave out a 12 win Okla and put in a 10 win Bama - just makes no sense.

@bobs-dimpled-chin

They’ll never leave out Oklahoma anyway but this year I think Oklahoma deserves to get in. When has Oklahoma ever got the shaft? Lol
