I don't agree with their AP ranking, them being behind Tennessee makes no sense.
Both have 2 losses...
- Ohio State has a better Strength of Schedule
- Ohio State beat #3, Tennessee beat #11
- Ohio State lost to #1 by 1 point, Tennessee lost to #6 by 14 points
- Ohio State lost to 7-5 Michigan, Tennesee lost to 6-6 Arkansas.
Looking at both teams, there is nothing Tennessee is better at than OSU other than OSU lost more recently. OSU should be ahead of Tennessee. We will see where the committee puts them.
That’s the kind of thing that happens when one conference has an army of lobbyists working for them.
Do you really think Penn State is #3?
Bbb
I think PSU would have had a better position in CFP if OSU had won. Anything can happen we saw that Saturday with UM win but a huge upset by PSU is needed against Oregon. If they do not win they will fall below OSU since they beat PSU and its hard to lose by a lesser margin than OSU did against Oregon in Oregon.
@xjumpmanx we can beat Oregon and I believe we will beat Oregon. I believe DA is playing good enough today to beat any team out there.
We’ve been told Conference Championship play will not be penalized. OSU lost as a 3 TD favorite to a 6-5 team on the road. Huge Loss. So what Penn State loses a week of rest? Championship mindset go in there and test your mettle against the best in the country, #1 AP, #1 Seed, Bye Week and B10 Championship on the line. Would you rather have extra rest coming off a blowout against Maryland or go out there against the best and see what you’re made of and take those adjustments in the playoffs. Knowing you already faced the worst the playoffs have to offer, I’ll take that over the rest. Oregon isn’t some invincible juggernaut, they struggled against a G5 team and Wisconsin. Neutral field, PSU can win this game and I know Franklin wants it bad. First match up since 1995 Rose Bowl. LFG.
The 2nd place B1G team will not finish below the third place B1G team in the final seedlings. Just like the SEC runner up will not finish below the third place team from that conference. If anything happens it will be OSU playing on the road in the first round.
#11 is fast and he needs to focus on not letting the Oregon QB get outside the pocket and Carter is fast enough to stop him. If Carter and DA have a good game we win.
Agreed, Southern. I think the key to winning is to play a full, four quarter game for once!
- Saturday night can't get here soon enough. Going to be a great game. I feel Oregon comes out with a win in this one.
From my seat.....Penn State has absolutely nothing to lose if they lose to Oregon. There is positively NO reason for JF to play "cat & mouse", conservative, not to lose and so on. If they lose, they should be seated #5 and host a first round game. If they win, that is a WHOLE different conversation. ALl that happened this past Saturday was that PSU went from a 7 or 8 seed to at least a #5 seed by Ohio State losing with a chance of being the OVERALL #1.
JF needs to pull all of the stops, have fun and let the kids have at it. I can't imagine Penn State really thought they would be playing in the Big10 Championship. Hoped for an Ohio State loss, but really didn't expect one.....just like most of us here.
I really think ANY of the current top 10 teams can win it all.....with one of the top 5 most likely. We have all watched games this year, and to say there is one dominant team just ain't there.
ND...currently hot, but hot against ok teams and one really bad loss.
GA...2 losses and almost 3.
Texas....4 top 25 wins against teams that no longer are in the top 25. Lost pretty decisively to GA.
Oregon.....beat ohio State and Illinois. The rest of their schedule is fairly weak and had a couple close games against them.
Tenn....their best win is against a 9-3 Bama who didn't score a TD against an unranked Sooner team.
Ohio State....had two nice wins against Penn State and Indiana.....and then just blew it against Michigan.
SMU....whatever. They struggled against Duke and had to score 19 points in the 4th quarter against Nevada to avoid a loss.
Boise....quite a few close games with bad teams. Did hang with Oregon, so who knows.
PENN STATE.....that BG game is still concerning, but early in the season. MINNY puts another question mark next to that win. USC in OT, didn't like that one either. BUT hey, they hung in, won ALL of their road games and came back from behind to win some of them. Still think they should of beat Ohio State and I think they will if the play them again in the CFP.
As far as the rest of the current top 12 or 13, they just ain't that great/strong. If Penn State beats Oregon, I think Penn State has a great chance to win it all....at least as good as anybody else!!
GO STATE!!!!!
Bump
If Penn State has a rusher over 100 yards, and multiple others like Drew or Kaytron break 30 yards a piece, that’s the formula to beat Oregon. OSU couldn’t rush on them but Boise State and Wisconsin did and those games were close. Penn State has more fire power and a much better D than aforementioned teams. Drain the clock, limit Dillon Gabriel’s possession, don’t turn it over and go over 150 yards rushing and that’s game. They don’t present anything that OSU hasn’t already showed us, athletic D and High powered WRs, we were a goal line stand away from atleast tying that game. The idea this is going to be a forgone blow to me is perplexing, have you not watched this entire season, most parody in CFB since 2007. It’s simple win the rushing battle and you win the game. I think Kaytron should get the majority of the carries, wear them down, present a fresh singleton in the 2nd half for some explosive runs to put this game away.
@kularrow I love KA and he is a bruising RB but imo Singleton is much better and I didn’t believe he was this time last year. I understand and agree with ya just saying I can’t believe how much better Singleton is this year. His improvement is like LJ’s was his Sr year. I’m not saying he’s as good as LJ just pointing out how much better Singleton is. LJ had a monster Sr year and most people knew he was good but not the beast he became. He ran angry lol
I dont think either is better, I think they are different. Singleton needs more of a hole to get started, but once he does he can be electric. Kaytron is better at finding and fighting for yardage, as I feel he sees and sets up blocking better
Singleton equal off to the races.
Allen equal I'm gonna get there.
@kularrow OSU’s top rusher averaged almost 8 yards per rush as did what’s his name at Boise State so I would say they could rush on them And we should be able to too.
PSU 27 Oregon 23
To echo PSUJoe's post, I think a of of teams kind of fall behind and abandon the run against Oregon. Their run D isn't as good as it seems.
