See link above. Some narratives remain the same -- Singleton vision/confidence issues, passing game simplistic to a fault. Some narratives were rewritten -- OL was really in-sync run blocking, Kaytron Allen has taken a substantial step forward as a runner and probably needs to split carries with Singleton (if they insist on using him) au a 2:1 clip. Though they've played 3 times already, we'll all see this offense for the first time vs. Oregon (if that makes any sense).

It appears at this time Oregon is more rounded and has more shine to their wheels, JMO.  Hope the 3 week stretch of non conference and a bye week doesn't come back to haunt them September 27th.

This is exactly why I thought we are only seeing part of the playbook. Everything we know about Andy Kotelnicki is that his offense is anything but simplistic or vanilla.

I agree... we are going to see the offense for the first time in two weeks. Hopefully it is ready to take a step forward.

I am going to say it again...We should beat Oregon by 2 scores in 2 weeks...They are nowhere near as good as they were last year...They are a very good football team but I think with this roster from a personnel standpoint Penn State is a great team...They are playing in their building with 110,000 crazy fans all dressed in white on a Saturday night...No more imposing environment in sports...No excuses...This should be a 2 score win for Penn State...We are going to find out what this team is in 2 weeks...

I don’t believe in holding back. Go out and run the dang offense and stop the trickery shit and line up and punch ‘em in the mouth and run the ball down their throats. Run the freaking offense every game so it’s second nature when we do play the heavyweights. Hit Oregon and Ohio St in the mouth being physical up front! If AK can’t do this get somebody that can!

@southern-psu-fan

I sure hope we can execute the rest of the playbook better than what we've shown so far.  Who was the coach who responded to a talking head asking "What do you think of your teams execution today?"  by saying "That might not be a bad idea"???

@southern-psu-fan Holding back or not, the offensive line should still be making holes for the RBs to have room to run against these "lesser" opponents.

Well in my opinion is the running game is fine...They did well in spite of facing 8 and 9 men in the box...Safeties crowded the line of scrimmage as a result of a lack of respect for Penn States deep ball...Lets see what happens when the open up the playbook...Allar is going to have to produce against these top tier teams for this team to win...He is the weak link...Sadly it is now or never...

I still don’t believe this crap about PSU holding the offense back. We’ve heard and said the same things for years and it’s never been true so this year I’ll believe it when I see it

@psujoe  I don’t think we do either. They might hold back a play or two but imo that’s about it. What I do believe is happening is they’re trying to get DA throwing the ball down field and he’s still struggling to get it done. He’s just not good at throwing down field so just run what he’s good at and keep gettin better at that. The offense started looking better when the TE’s were more involved and that opened up the run game because K-Allen  was picking up some good yardage and imo Allen is the better running back right now. Run what freaking works. our defense is good enough to beat anybody if we take care of the ball. Take care of the ball we lost 3 games last year and 2 of ‘em were because we turned the ball over and the Ohio State loss was because instead of running what got us inside the 5 yard line AK wanted to make DA the hero and it bit us in the ass. Run what freaking works until the other team stops it!

Just saying we’re trying to force something to work on offense that DA ain’t good at. He’s good at shorter passes and throwing to the TE and he can hurt teams with his feet  if the right plays are called. I’d go deep 3 or 4 times a game other than that just throw the passes he’s good at connecting and run the damn ball our defense will keep us in every game and win the turnovers battle. Yurcich had these same 3 stars on offense and they were very young and the offense looked better. AK needs to get off his ass and make something happen. The offense ain’t looked good under his watch playing the heavyweights. We are 3-0 so go out and run what is working and beat Oregon we can beat ‘em if we do this.

@southern-psu-fan how the eff does someone earn the starting job at a major college football program if you can’t throw the football downfield ?? I sure as hell hope we defeat Oregon on the 27th because if we don’t and it’s because of poor QB play things could get really ugly.

3 Keys to beating Oregon

#1 keep DA comfortable on what he does best. Shorter passes with the TE very involved in the offense and run the damn ball down Oregon throats and wear Oregons defense down.

#2 win the turnover battle

#3 defense baby

34-28 Penn State wins baby. Oregon ain’t seen a defense like what they going to get next weekend. You heard it here first baby ole southern has a feeling we gone turn it up a notch and get the win at home in the whiteout. 😁🇺🇸🍺 just win baby!

17th most yards, 15th in pass yards per attempt, 12th in QB rating.

That is Allar last year, but y'all acting like he's a DIII QB who has nonplace on the field. I'll waiy until Oregon to say something.

Ple ty of QBs look like Joe Montana against crap teams and then *hit the bed in important ones. We'd probably be saying "Well he looked great but we haven't played anyone" if he had thrown for 450 yards in each game. None of this matters, what matters is hoe he plays against Oregon and OSU.

@psujoe  because James Franklin won’t give another guy a chance just look back at how bad Hack played and stayed on the field while McSorely sit the bench. Same shit happened last year with Pribula and James Franklin let Pribula walk. Just imagine if Pribula had the studs at Missouri that Penn State has. It’s not hard to see imo you know I was screaming for a QB change. DA gives us a better chance to win this year so he’s the man. Lol

0-6 roam is the stat I’m worried about.

@roaminglion I was the first guy on this forum to jump on the Allar bandwagon back when he was playing as the backup as a freshman. I sat in the stadium and watched the ridiculous throws the kid could make back then and thought he should have been the starter but for the past 2 years I’ve sat in the stadium and watched him not even attempt to make throws that he used to be capable of.  I think he has a confidence issue caused by the coaching staff. It seems like every QB other than McSorley has developed a mental issue during the Franklin years.

S. Clifford

this was against Ohio St 2021. We lost but not because of Clifford. Clifford was a very good QB for us.

Yep, Southern, you're right as usual!  That's what has me worried, Jimmy!  If things aren't going well with Allar, I don't think we'll see Grunk until it's too late.

I'm afraid the Macro Stats tell the wrong story.  Say he had 4 big games last year.  How do those stats compare to other QB's big four games?  I'm afraid DA and James both need to get over the hump and ND was not a big hump.  It may be mental.
