Or is this simply a case of James taking care of an old buddy. I read in the article that he developed a relationship with Franklin when he was with the Titans and James was at Vanderbilt. Since he was fired by the Jets, I assume he is currently unemployed and as such is in need of a job. If our new OC works out, I would hope he sticks around for a while!
