Indiana quarterbackFernando Mendoza has an NIL valuation of $2.6 million, which ranks him 8th among all college football players. He is reportedly in the "pay-for-play" category at Indiana with a reported value of $3 million.
Ya’ll stop acting like Indiana is the same Indiana before players were being paid. Gimme a break….💰
Wow they lost their first regular season game in almost 2 years but they’ve still dominated the conference since they joined it. You can keep making excuses but it will never erasethe things you’ve preached all summer.
@psujoe when money come a long the game changed and the only thing I said this past summer is DA ain’t good enough to beat the heavyweights and complain about the ND loss so I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Money wins is exactly what I said also and I can find it for you if you want me too.
College football is in a transition period right now and has been the last couple of years. Whoever the teams are that can come up with the money will be the new heavyweights. Dabo and James Franklin has learned the hard way thinking they can win with just recruiting. Both teams have a few players brought in through the portal but both were stubborn on using it t win football games they thought they could just recruit and it’s blew up in both of their faces. Different game today baby with the mighty dollar. How long will it be before teams that are winning don’t want to share the money anymore? Just saying

LMAO!!bYou obviously have a selective memory
@southern-psu-fan "it's all about your QB" ....... Fact Check: True
Pitt is doing well with their freshman QB and the freshman who replaced Pribula yesterday was also productive.
Ya’ll stop acting like Indiana is the same Indiana before players were being paid. Gimme a break
What is that even supposed to mean ? Every team plays by the same set of rules and yes Indiana is the same Indiana as is OSU the same OSU etc etc.
@psujoe yes they do play by the same rules but Indiana wouldn’t have the QB they have right now if teams couldn’t pay players and I don’t believe they would’ve had the one last year either. Money is changing the game there won’t be any blue bloods in the next 5 years. I’ve said it many times on the forum….how good is your QB and that will tell ole southern how good your team is. Tradition in college football is just about over. I also made that comment because I keep hearing Cig is doing more with less and that’s not true the leveling field is leveling out because of money. You fudge up and give a QB 4 million dollars that’s not that good you might end up with a losing season I seen this coming James Franklin tried to go the Dabo route and it blew up in his face. Penn St wasted over 7 million dollars on DA and Jim Knowles, neither one fits what Penn St football wants to do on the field.
i just seen on the news LSU fired Brian Kelly. I’m sure his name will get thrown in the mix. He’s a good coach I don’t understand why LSU struggled so bad on defense. We will see.
@southern-psu-fan ummm just give the guy credit and admit he is elite because he is one of the best coaches in the country and JF never has been and never will be. Cig has been doing more with less his entire career and James does less with more.
@psujoe He’s done a great job no doubt about it but he has to win certain games to become elite. IMO you need to win a NC to become elite but I have very high expectations for the word elite. Penn St and James Franklin and some fans were satisfied with beating the middle of the pack teams and when you are satisfied with just beating Minnesota, Rutgers and Michigan State it won’t be long before you start losing to teams like Iowa, NW and UCLA. I gave James Franklin a chance and I was one of his biggest cheerleaders but the game against Ole Miss got me thinking something was wrong and I knew it was a QB problem but I was still willing to see if DA would work but big game after big game it was clear it wasn’t working and the Oregon and ND was the last straw for me I knew we were in trouble because James Franklin got to comfortable with losing big game and when this season started some people on here was thinking we weren’t showing what we had was just being delusional. Over the weekend I looked up the QB that jumped ship and if everything I read was accurate the dude was a prostyle QB just like DA. These typical true prostyle QB only work with a very few teams and we damn sure ain’t one of ‘em. How did that get by you homer after 3 years of the worst QB play I’ve ever watched in big games comparing teams Apples to Apples?

Honestly... that's a lazy and inaccurate way to evaluate teams. Mahomes is a generational QB and Texas Tech wasn't good. Alabama had average QB's for most of their titles. I think we all see now that JJ McCarthy and Stetson Bennett were average too.
Having an average QB doesn't magically makr your team bad, and having s great QB doesn't make your team elite. It's called a TEAM for a reason.
You might not agree Roam, but with NIL & the portal, I don't think TEAM is what it used to be.
@roaminglion I didn’t say elite roam, I said good. to be elite a coach, QB and team need to win a National championship. We can’t lower the bar for what the word elite means.
It’s still Team, no different than a band of mercenaries who are only as successful as the whole group makes it; every man has his job, work for each other, go in together and come out together. Sounds corny but its the way it works at the top level of any org especially when the playing field is equal or neutralised.
What the heck are you talking about? You said "how good is your QB and that tells you how good the team is"@roaminglion I didn’t say elite roam, I said good. to be elite a coach, QB and team need to win a National championship. We can’t lower the bar for what the word elite means.
You are wrong. Patrick Mahones was awesome and Texas Tech sucked. John Elway was awesome and Stanford sucked. Joe Montana never won a NC at ND and he's top 3 best QB ever.
A QB doesn't tell you how good a team is. That's effing nonsense
@roaminglion you living in the past im talking about today. Show me a good QB and I’ll show you good teams but there’s of course always exceptions in anything. Bringing up QB’s that played in the 80’s is what’s nonsense. Big picture Roam.
When your QB stinks odds are you’ll lose to ND, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon and if changes ain’t made you’ll start losing to NW and UCLA. How good is your QB.
@southern-psu-fan And when you can't stop the other team's mediocre QB from running, you lose to Arkansas as well. Clifford was also a huge part of the inept Penn State Offense in the 2022 Outback Bowl.
Fire James Franklin!
(Author's Note: Yes, I know James Franklin was fired, but he deserves no solace or leniency due to the misery he has caused.)
When your QB stinks odds are you’ll lose to ND, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon and if changes ain’t made you’ll start losing to NW and UCLA. How good is your QB.
Penn State lost those games because of piss poor coaching with stupid play calling and questionable in game decisions not because of the play of one individual.
Mahomes played in 2015, Stetson Bennett played 3 years ago. FFS@roaminglion you living in the past im talking about today. Show me a good QB and I’ll show you good teams but there’s of course always exceptions in anything. Bringing up QB’s that played in the 80’s is what’s nonsense. Big picture Roam.
Cam Ward #1 pick in NFL draft, Miami didn't make the playoff. Jaylen Daniels won the Hesiman, LSU didn't make the playoff. Caleb Williams won the Heisman and #1 pick... didn't make the playoff.@roaminglion you living in the past im talking about today. Show me a good QB and I’ll show you good teams but there’s of course always exceptions in anything. Bringing up QB’s that played in the 80’s is what’s nonsense. Big picture Roam.
Last 3 best QBs in college, not one of them won a conference title let alone NC.
@roaminglion Miami had a good football team and just missed out on the playoffs and there’s always exceptions like I said, big picture Roam, not the few exceptions you come up with. You just trying to come up with something because you’ve been blaming the WR’s for what was a QB problem when I told you the WR’s weren’t the problem.
We keep up with Penn St football more than all these dudes some of yall listen to on podcasts. Believe what you see on the field and stop listening to Joel Klatt somebody that just watches the highlights of all the games.
Im hearing the OC from Ohio State might be the guy and if he is, the dude on locked on nittany lions said there’s a good chance he keeps Jim Knowles and if that happens, it may be a long 3 years because I don’t believe what works at Ohio St will work at Penn St especially with NIL and the transfer portal. Jim Knowles has made out defense look like Temples defense and has made DDS look like he’s never played football before and DDS is a stud. If we get an OC I’d rather get the guy from Oregon. My first pick is still Manny because I know the defense will be elite and if we get a good QB we can get some wins against Ohio St, Oregon and Michigan. James Franklin is an offensive minded coach we need a Defensive minded coach like the dude from Oregon. Kirby, Saban, Lanning are all defensive minded coaches. Just saying
It's litterally the best QB 3 years in a row and you are calling them exceptions. lmao@roaminglion Miami had a good football team and just missed out on the playoffs and there’s always exceptions like I said, big picture Roam, not the few exceptions you come up with. You just trying to come up with something because you’ve been blaming the WR’s for what was a QB problem when I told you the WR’s weren’t the problem.
And unlike you I wasn't blaming 1 specific postion or person, in fact this whole year I was mostly saying it was coaching.
If you think DDS is a stud then you don't have eyes. Abdul Carter was a stud, DDS is no Abdul Carter. We keep up with Penn St football more than all these dudes some of yall listen to on podcasts. Believe what you see on the field and stop listening to Joel Klatt somebody that just watches the highlights of all the games.

I said even before the season that Knowles defense takes time to learn. It's not really about players as much as it is scheme. Every place he has been, he had success.
No where is good enough fir you though Souther, it's always some lame excuse. Ohio State? He had great players (somehow the previous DC didn't?) Oklahoma State (It's the Big 12, doesn't count) LOL
Not a chance...Not even close...DDS has hurt them more than he has helped them...His lack of discipline in many areas almost makes him unplayable...He jumps offsides too often and also runs himself out of most plays...He is a one trick pony and that trick isn't even that good...
