@kularrow Matt Rhule?
Who would ya’ll rather have Rhule or Diaz?
Diaz, atleast you know what his defense is capable of which is his best quality. Rhule hasn’t done at Nebraska what he said he would in his magical third year, bringing him here; restarting the clock and waiting for another magical third year will be a complete waste of time.
@brownale Manny Diaz or Matt Rhule Brawnale? I believe it’s one of these 2
Neither...That is like asking how would you prefer to die? Sroke? Heart Attack? I believe right now it's either Cignetti, Brady or Brohm...The next coach will be one of those 3 guys...
@psujoe the dude on Locked on nittany lions thinks Brian Hartline is the leader. I’ll pull like heck for him but with all the talent Ohio State has they usually have a very vanilla offense until the other teams get tired because other teams don’t have the depth Ohio State has then Ohio State puts a butt kicking because other teams just wear out. What works at Ohio State might not work at Penn state it may turn out like the defense. When a team like Ohio State are knee deep in talent their coaches might look better than they really are Jim Knowles has been a fudging disaster man and Brian Hartline could be the same results. I don’t was ANY Ohio State coach unless it’s urban Meyer. I don’t like it homer. This might not end good for Penn St football if they go Hartline?
If you remember Homer I said the same thing about Luke Fickle and I know he took over a bad situation from Jim trussell but he still should’ve done better and look at Wisconsin? You know coaching inthe big 10 is different than Cincinnati and the big 12 and ACC. Just saying
I don't think Hartline is the guy...My best guess is it's either Cignetti or Brady...I think that whole Hartline thing was a smokescreen...

Cignitti is not coming to Penn State. Actually, he probably hopes to pull a Illinois and completely boat race PSU by 50 points to make a statement about UIs legitimacy atop the B10.
Brady I can see because of the glaring PSU Terry Pegula connection.
If Hartline can bring Sayin and Jeremiah Smith great but that’s probably no chance that happens. Hartline is smart and he’s watching this Knowles thing from afar and probably doesn’t want any part of it.
I personally believe the minute Drew threw that Interception against ND, the wheels in motion for Matt Rhule to come here where set in motion. One problem now, Nebraska isn’t going to make the playoffs huge wrench in the system. If Nebraska would have been a playoff team then it’s a done deal. Now Kraft has to wrestle with not such a big splash plus the strain it could put on a friendship with a man he’s professed to love. It may not be worth mixing business with friendship given Rhule has underperformed and he holds onto staff way to long which is probably why he missed his 3 year deadline this year.
Sell the farm for Brohm.
Best thing to do is finish the season as is, and then can the DC and OC.
Incoming HC will have a clean slate to bring in his guys. Give the new dude a three contract with set metrics and annual pickups afterward. Forget the bullshit buyout clauses for both sides. Either you perform and want to stay or underperform and hit the road.
In the meantime set up a business model that attracts the best coaches and players going forward. A lot of creative options for setting up attractive compensation packages for players if they want to be had. In this day and age, admin has to think out of the box damn near like a start up company.
3 days ago I would have agreed with you regarding Cignetti but having reviewed that contract he signed it wasn't a deal designed to keep him there but more or less a way out if he decides to come to Penn State...It gives them cover as they can say they tried but it gives him the option to leave for a very minimal buyout fee by todays standards...It more or less was a starting point for whoever wants to come in to poach him...If Indiana wanted to tie him up the buyout wouldn't be 5 million dollars it would have been 75 million dollars...So if Penn State wants him they can come in and pay the 5 million to Indiana and offer him 12 million a year or 15 million a year and it is a done deal...Penn State gets their guy and Indiana saves face and says they offered him...The structure of that contract isn't really a lock down deal and in my opinion is quite the opposite...
@the-funeral-director my son thinks the same thing you do FD. I’m still hoping for Diaz but it doesn’t look like he’s on the radar but like the president of the United States 🇺🇸 I’ll always pull for whoever is in charge! I still want Diaz 😂
Me too, Southern, but I don't think our votes count, lol!
Cignetti is #2 in the nation and did something Franklin couldn't do in 12 years here, win a big conference game on the road.@roaminglion Cignetti ain’t elite he ain’t won shit yet and neither has Elco. Don’t these dudes need to win a conference championship before we jump to elite status? These dudes ain’t as good as James Franklin and they ain’t damn sure ain’t elite ….yet anyway.
Manny has been a HC before and never sniffed the success Cignetti has had... and he was at Miami, not Indiana.
His buyout is $15 million, not $53 days ago I would have agreed with you regarding Cignetti but having reviewed that contract he signed it wasn't a deal designed to keep him there but more or less a way out if he decides to come to Penn State...It gives them cover as they can say they tried but it gives him the option to leave for a very minimal buyout fee by todays standards...It more or less was a starting point for whoever wants to come in to poach him...If Indiana wanted to tie him up the buyout wouldn't be 5 million dollars it would have been 75 million dollars...So if Penn State wants him they can come in and pay the 5 million to Indiana and offer him 12 million a year or 15 million a year and it is a done deal...Penn State gets their guy and Indiana saves face and says they offered him...The structure of that contract isn't really a lock down deal and in my opinion is quite the opposite...
@roaminglion be still ain’t elite he’d needs to at least win a conference championship to be even considered being elite. IMO you need to win a NC to be elite and the dude has won one big game and you talking elite.
Elite is being the highest level. James Franklin certainly wasn't elite. Cignetti has won championships, at every level he has been on. He is only in year two at perennial bottom dweller Indiana and you are acting like he's average.@roaminglion be still ain’t elite he’d needs to at least win a conference championship to be even considered being elite. Please
5 million or 15 million his buyout isn't going to cause any team wanting to poach him pause...To me that is a save face contract from Indiana in the event a Penn State or other team comes in and poaches him...I have to believe money isn't going to be a factor regarding Penn State...It seems as things are now if Penn State wants him he is gettable...
@roaminglion I said he’s done a great job at Indiana but he isn’t an elite coach yet maybe someday he might be elite
He has done more with less than any coach in the country the last 2 seasons...Penn State would be lucky to bring him in...He is easily the coach of the year this season...
@roaminglion I said he’s done a great job at Indiana but he isn’t an elite coach yet maybe someday he might be elite
Yes we know Southern, he can’t be elite unless he’s coaching at an alleged blue blood. Just like SMU can’t hang with the alleged big dogs, west coast football sucks and we should all bow down to southern football greatness.
@psujoe wake beat SMU today and besides paying players has changed the game recruiting doesn’t matter as much as it did before NIL and paying players come along. It’s a different game today. I’ve said many times money wins blue bloods might be a thing of the past, it’s about show me the money now.
Fernando Mendoza has an NIL valuation of $2.6 million, which ranks him 8th among all college football players. He is reportedly in the "pay-for-play" category at Indiana with a reported value of $3 million.
Ya’ll stop acting like Indiana is the same Indiana before players were being paid. Gimme a break….💰 doing more with less my ass this dude is making some Jack baby. It’s all about your QB
