Monday, May 30 is Memorial Day, a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and security of our nation.

More than 50 million Americans have served in our nation’s armed forces from the time of the American Revolution to the present. Along the way, more than one million gave their lives.

While that’s a staggering statistic on its own, we must not lose sight of the fact that behind the numbers were real men and women. How they died was not as important as how they lived. These individuals served a higher purpose, accepting hardship and great personal risk fighting to protect our way of life. They embodied the most important values and traditions of our nation.

On Memorial Day, we are reminded how important it is to defend those values. If we truly want to honor our fallen heroes and give meaning to their sacrifice, we’ll resolve to strengthen our commitment to our nation and the values for which it stands.

As you enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend, take time to appreciate those who gave their all so that you/we can all live in peace and security.

Well said, Navy.  Honor the fallen and uphold their legacy so that their sacrifice is not in vain.

Beautifully done and said! Land of the free and home of the brave.  We often complain and get caught up about little things that make no sense. Sometimes we forget how good we have it and what we have in front of us. God bless all of you and your families and have a wonderful and safe memorial day weekend.

Side notation: Let us not forget about protecting our democracy too. May justice prevail for all involved in that vicious January 6th disgrace and may justice be served for the phony we had in office, the 45th.

@blushoes Gee Niccy, Thank you for ruining Navy's post by pigging backing on a well thought out and presented post.

You've mentioned you're side note before, it was, and still is political opinion. As a reminder, I though it was agreed upon by the majority to stay away from politics on this forum.

Well said, BT.  It's a day to remember the fallen, not for spouting off!

@rip I will refrain from this next time. As a newbie I wasn't aware of rules on the board. Is there a way to edit the response now?

Not sure who said this, but always felt it a very fitting quote on Memorial Day: "We don't know them all, but we owe them all"
