^so true Roam.
On another note, just saw the headlines of the Marvin H Jr, nil deal, the game has changed literally overnight!
First round money to keep a kid at a college for one more year? So now we’re going to compete with the NFL for players? If this is true it is insane and out of control.
I wish Penn St would’ve give chop a check to play in the bowl game lol.
Dex to DC, Connor to LB coach makes too much sense. Groom Connor for the position in the future. He was LB coach at West Chester for 2 years, HS HC for 2 years, and DC at Widener for 4 years. He’s working his way up. Plus, he has been learning under Manny for the last two years and has his experience with Vanderlinden to rely on.

@southern-psu-fan The schools can’t pay the players directly. Boosters, businesses, alumni can. So, if you want to cut a check to Chop, have at it.
@lionbacker99 I love Penn St football enough to help chip in some but I’d like to see all the athletes get the same amount money considering it’s college and not professional. I don’t think I can afford to pay the whole check for chop but I’d definitely chip in. We only get 13 games a year so to win the peach bowl I’d chip in a $50 to help get the win. Winning these bowl games has always been fun for me. I already spent a $1000 I’m going to the game lol
@southern-psu-fan I’m joking with ya. The NCAA rolled out this NIL thing without many guidelines. IT’s the Wild West. Good for you. Have fun at the game.
@lionbacker99 They didnt really roll out anything, idiot politicians sensing the issue du jour made it law in a bunch of states that essentially made it impossible for the NCAA had to regulate it.
I believe that's why Ewers went to Ohio State, Texas still hadn't passed a NIL law so in Ohio he could make money. Once Texas was on board he transferred.
State politicians ruined it. Plain and simple, in their neverending quest for votes, they didnt care about placing guardrails on anything. Just rushed to pass a law that made it the wild west
Diaz may have struggled down in Miami because I heard he didn’t recruit well. Spending 2 years under James Franklin will pay off for Manny Diaz. IMO manny has spent 2 years under one of the best recruiting coaches that’s in college football. There’s a lot that goes into being a head coach and James Franklin is one of the best.
Here's the thing with recruiting, it's like sales, for the most part you are a born salesman or not. Yes you can learn some things, but; persona; charisma; talking church to momma; beer, hunting and fishing to Pops; and money to both is a gift; its all about the relationship.
Manny may not be a natural recruiter.
Well it was Covid so did he have a chance to really recruit?Diaz may have struggled down in Miami because I heard he didn’t recruit well. You might be right Roam, I was listening to this clip today. Manny did a great job with the defense. Sounds to me this dude doesn’t like Manny Diaz. I meant for my post about Manny to be optimistic about his future so I hope I come out that way because I like the dude.
Right about what? Just not sure what you meanYou might be right Roam, I was listening to this clip today.
@roaminglion Covid may have been a problem for him at Miami. Is the video not up?
oh, got you. Yeah he got there right around that time.@roaminglion Covid may have been a problem for him at Miami. Is the video not up?
@southern-psu-fan In my mind the so called recruiting expert Brian Smith of locked on Seminoles is an arrogant goof. To be fair though, that's just my reaction to his tv body/facial language and lazy analysis. But.....when he started in on Manny Diaz it just confirmed my thoughts on him as an "everything Florida" blow hard with maybe a Manny Diaz axe to grind. Yes there is that Temple thing but it doesn't take away from Manny's abilities. In the end, we will see how he does at Duke.
I’m hoping we get a game with Duke since Manny Diaz will be their head coach. Playing Duke doesn’t mean giving up games against teams like Alabama, we play Alabama and Duke lol. I’m assuming if we did get a game it would be one game at Penn St
The nice thing is now scheduling an OOC game and losing doesn't mean you're already out of the playoff. Hopefully with 12 teams we will see more good matchups.I’m hoping we get a game with Duke since Manny Diaz will be their head coach. @roaminglion losing 2 games keeps you around 10th to 12th. Losing 3 games you probably won’t get in. I believe it’s going to get harder to get in especially if the ACC, PAC and Big 12 teams only have 1 or 2 losses. With the big 10 it’s very possible most good teams have 3 losses?
@roaminglion When we go to super conferences, there really won’t be a need for OOC games.
Win a Power conference it doesn't matter.@roaminglion losing 2 games keeps you around 10th to 12th. Losing 3 games you probably won’t get in. They will still be playing OOC games@roaminglion When we go to super conferences, there really won’t be a need for OOC games.
@roaminglion I agree just saying it might be harder to get in the playoffs. Only one team can win the big 10 the other teams will be playing in the sunshine bowls lol
