supposed to be confirmed in the next 24 hours or less. I wonder who JF will bring in next?
GO STATE
Good for Manny. He did his part at State. Will be interesting to see who comes in, as JF should have been working on this move. And if we lose any D players to the portal.
I know this may be far fetched, but I think he should bring in Tom Bradley for 24 months along with some young 30 year old that can mentor under him. It is hard to keep these older guys around for years as they are ALL looking for that next step. You get a young dude in their you can probably count on them for 10 years and have less turnover. I would think most OC and DC over 40 years old are not staying put too long in one spot.
GO STATE!!
IMO the university will steer clear of any Paterno era coaches.
I’ll say, I like the style of D that Manny ran, and would like to see that aggressiveness continue, but you have to have a coach that recruits the players to fit. Hell bring Phil Parker over as a lateral move, he’s 60, and runs a damn good D with no O, lol. Will be interesting to see who JF pegs.
Al Golden?
Dan Connor?
??
Connor is already at PSU as a D analyst
Good luck to Manny, I didn't and still don't see him as a HC at Duke. Hope I am wrong and he kills it there!
^ I agree Roam.
You're probably right and that's what's wrong with this BOT! Bad enough that they killed ole Joe, but they blackball all the fine men who coached under him. Who knows, with a new Administration that might change (LOL), but if the freaking spineless BOT has final say it won't happen. Scrap is a Lion at heart, has the experience and a wealth of defensive knowledge. Couldn't pick a better man for DC.
@rip The university didn’t “kill ole Joe”. Lung cancer killed Joe. Tom Bradley is 67 years old and hasn’t coached in 3 years since leaving the Steelers. If he wanted to still be coaching, he probably still would be. This is a young man’s game. Recruiting is a 24/7 365 days a year job. It’s not for guys in the twilight of their career. Joe stopped recruiting in the last several years he was coach for those reasons. Tom isn’t coming back. It isn’t the 80’s.
Just for shits and giggles, I'd like to see us throw a big bag of money Will Muschamp's way. If we keep it in house, you cant go wrong with Poindexter.
James should have fired him while he had the chance, damn it! Diaz did his two years at PSU. I believe that's Franklin's model. Pretty sure Coach has had his little black book open before today. Hope he finds another good one!
@been-there-ii He kindof got hosed at Miami because they were enamored with Cristobal. He wanted to be head coach again. We all assumed that. Can’t hold that against him.
@lionbacker99 Nah, I wish him all the best. Loved to watch his defense. We need a sarcasm font here too.
In all fairness he deserved it for what he pulled on Temple. Lmao@been-there-ii He kindof got hosed at Miami because they were enamored with Cristobal. He wanted to be head coach again. We all assumed that. Can’t hold that against him.
How about another fired HC ? Tom Allen from Indiana is definitely a possibility. He knows the Big10 teams, he recruited in the Big10 and he is a friend of JF.

@MNL: Will be interesting. Poindexter is a logical choice. I don't think he going anywhere afterwards. I guess it depends on the the behind the scenes relationships with JF and players.
I read an interview with Dan Connor and he flat out said he and his family are where they want to be for the rest of their lives... Do you take a chance on that and promote? Again, who knows what the behind the scene picture is.
On the flip side, a coach from another school potential brings a player or two (?), and/or is just an exceptional coach and recruiter.
With a 10-2 program, under various coaches, you have to find the missing piece to get over the proverbial hump; is it players, coaches, both, or something else e.g. facilities etc..
In todays game all the top schools are vying for a small group of 'elite' players, so what is it that you have control over that isn't being addressed?
If the elite players continue to get disbursed to a growing number of schools, IMO it becomes imperative that a program can recruit e.g. 3-4 star base and develop on a continuous 3 year cycle as in reloading and toping off with key 5 star quality players in key skill positions.
Only so many teams can continue recruiting like Bama, GA etc, and like any business org, there are various stages of the org life cycle that require different leaders (coaches) at different times to evolve the business.
Just my thoughts with a cup of Joe in hand.
Would not be surprising if this fill announcement isn’t quick, as JF has probably seen this coming for at least a couple weeks.
I wish it were true, but as fans we really can't trust any of what is said in interviews by these guys is true. Kansas State just lost their OC Collin Klein to Texas A&M, and he was a KSU alum saying the same things. Loves it there, wont take another job, etc.@MNL: Will be interesting. $$$ Money talks, dont blame them either. Tough spot to be in, you can say the right things and then leave... or you can be honest and people won't want you there to begin with. Lol
^so true Roam.
On another note, just saw the headlines of the Marvin H Jr, nil deal, the game has changed literally overnight!
Things seem to be falling into place for Ole Miss. Franklin has had three opportunities against the SEC in bowl games and has lost all 3 -- Georgia, Kentucky and Arkansas. Ole Miss just might be the next to humiliate James.
Maybe the wrong coach left.............
