So what? Plenty of talent in Happy Valley today and more will develop as the season goes on.Ā  Can they win it all?Ā  I doubt it, still young in a lot of areas.Ā  But let these guys get a game or two under their belt and who knows what will happen. I am really exited to watch this years team.Ā  Assuming Clifford is the QB, I think he will be a great leader and has his head in the right place today.Ā  This is a hungry Penn State team and that makes them dangerous!! Look for an exiting season to unfold with 10 plus wins!!Ā

My one and only preseason pick is Penn State over Ohio State by 17!Ā  No way is Ga's back up QB and Flemming going to pick this Penn State defense apart!!!!

Ā

Go State!!

Pssst......Flemming is finishing up his junior year in high school.Ā  So yeah, he and Fields wont be picking apart our defense this year.Ā Ā

7-5 and I'm being nice. Not sure where some people get these crazy expectations from. "This is their year ".Ā  Mcsorely is gone and just take a look at what they have lost in talent and depth.Ā  Franklin has a hard time winning on the Road. Just because they land top recruiting classes doesn't mean they can run the table to the playoffs.Ā  I wouldn't guarantee Franklin staying in State college either ifĀ  this trend continues in State college.Ā  Coaches always keep their options open.Ā Ā

"just take a look at what they have lost in talent and depth" & " Just because they land top recruiting classes..."

Interesting statements considering top recruiting classes usually mean you have lots talent and depth.

So you have us at 7-5 and not going to a bowl game?Ā  Fair enough.Ā  Now, who are the 5 teams we lose to??

"Franklin has a hard time winning on the Road"

2016: 3-2 on the road
2017: 3-2 on the road (both losses to ranked teams)
2018: 4-1 on the road (loss to ranked team)

So... he's actually gotten better on the road the past 3 years?

Before these early lines came out I predicted 7-5.Ā  Early lines already predicted 4 losses. OSU, MSU, Iowa and Michigan.Ā  C'mon Tsuga, again,Ā  it's not rocket science.Ā  Again,Ā  look what they lost. Its back to the drawing board.Ā  Still have Purdue, Minnesota and Maryland to worry about.Ā  I would not be surprised if one of those 3 knock them off.Ā  I'm even thinking the opening day might be a bit of a shocker, close game.Ā Ā

Ā I see three losses, maybe another to Iowa depending what time kick-off is and yeah, I can see Maryland catching lightning in a bottle and upsetting us.Ā  It all depends on coaching in my opinion.Ā  Kinda like preparing a meal, you can have the finest ingredients but if you can't cook, your meal is gonna suck.

Who do you have winning the division??

I’m going with penn st vs Wisconsin in big 10 championship game. James Franklin has dominated Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue Ā and Maryland. I think we lost 1 game against maryland.

Snakeoil, you are the biggest f**king joke ever. The only thing correct in your post is it isn't rocket science. Yeah, preseason predictions are the furthest thing from rocket science. The same lines will change every week during the season. Moreover, there isn't any player that Penn State has lost that won't be replaced with equal and probably even better quality since JF has recruited at a high level. It's always funny you only post any remotely negative articles against Penn State but totally ignore the positive. If we are to believe all this Ā preseason crap then let's not ignore that huge elephant article in the room where it ranked PSU's defense as #2 in the country. If this is also to be believed then that kind of defense is always in the game and very unlikely to lose 4 games given the offensive skill set on this roster.
