It is a shame it went down the way it did for Corley. He unselfishly moved to WR coach after being hired to coach running backs. He put the team first. I hope he lands on his feet.

I kind of agree with him. Receivers dropped the ball. I guess maybe it’s his fault they didn’t catch the ball but they were put in position to catch it and we had WAY to many drops. 3 drops in 3 games I possibly believe cost us 3 wins, Ohio st, Michigan st and Kentucky. The drops were a killer this year. But if janes Franklin is firing him he thinks it’s his fault

I like that he is standing up for his coach. But this is big money football. Sometimes just a change can bring about positive results. All those coaches are paid very good money and one of the reasons is the lack of job security.  He could probably land a job teaching and coaching at Bald Eagle Area High School making about $34,000 a year but then he would have to do cafeteria duty!

At what point do you blame the coach Southern?  How many different receivers have to drop the ball until maybe it becomes a coaching issue?

That said, I've been saying all along that I feel bad for him because he was always supposed to be the RB coach. But it is what it is, his unit had issues all year catching the ball and that falls on the coach. Say all you want about the players were the ones dropping it, but when it's a widespread issue among your players than it's the guy leading that unit how takes the blame.

James Franklin did fire him so you’re right.

I realize that the receivers are the ones dropping the ball, but don't you think the coach is responsible for running drills that focus on concentration?  I don't know how he coached the guys, but I have a hard time accepting that it was all on the receivers.  I do feel sorry for the predicament the coach was put in, that is on JF.

If it's not on the coach but on the receivers, teams can save a bundle of money by just hiring HS coaches. There's a reason why there were so many "drops" this past season by highly ranked receivers coming out of HS. The coach no only teaches but sets the tone. Regrettably perhaps, but in today's environment, if you don't produce you're gone!
