BT, I'm not that good at medical stuff, but doesn't appendicitis require surgery as in appendectomy?
Yes it was an appendectomy - originally expected back maybe this week. However, tonight I just read a post on Facebook saying whether he recovered or not, he will not play another game for the Nits, NFL draft now on his radar.
Yeah, put a little different spin on the opting out just to play it safe theory. I might be inclined to sit too if I were him.
While he probably COULD play if needed, after a surgery like that the recommendation is to sit 4 weeks. That would mean most medical professions would advise him against any more games exceot the bowl game.
...and if he's going pro, at that point why risk it after 2 months of no games anyway
I’m not expecting him to play this week but do expect him to play against MSU and then opt out of the bowl game.
I only want to him to play if he’s healthy enough to play. If he’s healthy enough to play I believe he’ll play in the bowl game assuming we get a NY6 bowl. I wish him the best he’s been fun to watch.
@southern-psu-fan If he had an appendectomy, there's really no legitimate reason he should play either of the last 2 games.
Did he have an appendectomy or didn't he? That goes back to the question I raised earlier. Does an attack of appendicitis always require an appendectomy? Or, is it possible that a flare up of appendicitis can be mild and treated without immediate surgery? Like I said, I'm no medical expert so I don't know that answer. However, I don't believe Franklin said he had surgery.

Other than play in his final home game as a PSU football player. Was listening to my podcasts again and most of them expect him to skip the Rutgers game and play vs MSU which they think will be his final game as a Lion.

That's a stupid reason to risk the health of a player. Again, IF he had surgery... I don't know if he did or not, but if it's someone who is going to opt out of a major bowl, I doubt he cares about playing Rutgers or MSU.
An aooendectomy isn't sonething you should be playing after 2 weeks later. Especially against crap teams IMO

So he had an appendectomy? I had appendicitis when I was a kid and didn’t have one so not everyone that gets appendicitis has to have surgery.

All I know is that I had appendicitis when I was a child and did not have surgery.
@psujoe You are correct, not everyone has surgery, that's why I said if he had one. All people have posted in here was that he had appendicitis, but they weren't sure if he had surgery or not. So IF he had surgery, it's not a good idea to play.
However, if he did not have surgery that's a different story.
