The one thing Iowa did to win that game is knock out Clifford. Period. Anything else is just fluff, it's obvious Clifford is vastly important to our team.

Yes, you are correct. That was the entire deciding factor of the game. Every football in the USA have injuries.

Ya know it's actually ridiculous that I'd like to agree with you for once. but I can't..JF needs to go to USC if he wants to take the next step.He was once again out-coached by a superior talent.

He wasn't out recruited. So now we get into the execution question. And our new all-star offensive coordinator was out coached also? TQ and the offensive team which includes all the offensive coaches did not execute. Franklin needs to call the plays? I'm sure he had discussion at half about what was needed from the offense. Lets fire they offensive coordinator. That was sarcasm. Take the loss to a number 3 team. We needed one more play. Move on.
I don't see OSU as any easier, better athletes than Iowa, away game, offense is improving.
@psujoe seemed to be doing pretty well before Clifford went down. My only criticism is not finding and experienced qb throught he portal.

Did Clemson's OC forget how to coach this year? Is he getting "outcoached"? Sometimes players are backups for a reason, everyone always wants to blame coaches for everything. In Clemson's case the kid is a 5* recruit, and Clemson has been terrible on offense... Are you gonna tell me that the same OC who produced Watson and Lawrence has no idea what he's doing now?

Of course JF wasn't out recruited za he constantly out recruits the other teams but somehow they keep defeating him.

He won the Big Ten without big recruits, and has been kept out of the championship since by 1 team: Ohio State. Had he won that game in 2017 and 2019 he'd have been in the title game. And guess what, Ohio State out recruits him every year.
Not saying he's the best, just that the team who has kept him from the championship 2 of the last 4 years absolutely out recruited him.
If the big 10 sends Iowa to the playoffs the biggest beat down ever is coming. We beat Iowa by 3 TD’s had Clifford not got hurt. Defense played ok but I thought they should’ve put more heat on the QB today

Iowa isn't going to the CFP, they will lose in the title game to whomever goes. Remember that year FSU beat Florida close, then played them again and got curb-stomped? That's what will happen if we stay healthy and see them again.
Agreed. The loss of Clifford is what turned the game. Clifford stays healthy and we meet the Hawkeyes again, we beat them day shift or night shift.
It find it funny complaining about JF. We are in the picture without a top tier QB (Cliff is not top 10 IMO), we are a serious contender. Then I think that there are probably10 teams in the top 25 that would love to have JF. Then I look at the probability of being able to replace him with someone better. I watch lots of teams hire the new boy wonder and pay him out 2 years later.
But yea after Cliff went down yesterday we looked poorly coached. We looked better than I expected with Clifford healthy.
I don't even want to listen to the JF press conference. He has to be upbeat but it will be tough to listen to spin.

Not being prepared and questionable on field decisions has been what's kept PSU from taking the next step under JF and it happened again Saturday eve, they were not prepared.

Its one thing to lose because you flat out get out played, blown bullshit call or something of that nature; but to lose because of ineptitude preparation and performance is really inexcusable. Frankly on Saturday, all of those illegal motion calls for the same reason played out Einstein's definition of insanity; doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Jesus Christ, put the QB under center. And by the way, even in the maddening deafness of a home game whiteout, has any opponent every pulled that shit in the Beav?

I've seen plenty of teams exhibit the same ineptitude when a terrible backup QB enters the game. It happens in the pros too.
It's not like it's rare.
@underlion 10 teams in the top 25 more like 20 teams in the top 25 would love to have James Franklin. I’m no happier than anybody else about the QB situation but our backup QB last year and should be this year has Kentucky 6-0. The problem is Roberson as it looks today just didn’t pan out but we need to give the kid a little time. I said it in another post about the defenses Saturday, their defense got to the QB and ours didn’t and that was the difference in the game.
I'm not sure Roberson is really all that bad. He's just not ready for prime time at this stage of his career. He was really thrust into a tough situation. Maybe with some work he can be developed into a serviceable backup.
