NBC announced during Saturday's Kentucky Derby coverage that it will broadcast the Week One showdown between Penn State and West Virginia in primetime on Sept. 2 and will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Prime time is always a good thing brother. I’m not wishing any time away but I am looking forward to the 2023 season with a new 5* QB baby. Thanks for the update buddy
An opening game whiteout in prime time would be fantastic!
Hope I don't offend anybody, but how about the old question - If a husband and wife Mountaineer couple gets divorced, are they still brother & sister?
Can’t wait for this game !! I love the state of West Virginia and will routinely root for the ‘eers when they’re playing other teams but on 9/2/23 I’ll be in attendance rooting for the Nits to kick the shit out of them.
Early pick, PSU 34 - WV 3
Speaking of the Kentucky Derby, did y’all hear about the 7 horses that’s died? Does anybody know anything about this? I’m an animal lover and it kills me hearing things like this. I definitely love horses and dogs
Kind of figured it would be prime time. A player leaked it on Twitter with a countdown calculator. Nice to have a night game for opening day.
By the way have you heard the bill is on it's way to be signed for legalization of Marijuana in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
I think the whiteout is going to be against Iowa.An opening game whiteout in prime time would be fantastic!
I don't see why we couldn't have 2 whiteouts. At the very least, make it a stripe out.
Maybe it has something to do with that Twizzlers commercial!
Was listening to my 247 sports podcast and they are saying WV will most likely be the whiteout and the only home night game of the season,
What’s up with that homer? We usually play a couple of night games a year or is it the only night game at home maybe? Thanks
I don’t know what’s up with it but they kept saying looking at the schedule they don’t see any home night games other than WV. I’m sure there will be at least one more on the road and I’m still hoping the Iowa game at home is a night game, we need to give them a total thrashing. What’s up with that homer? I think it's because people aren't exactly sure how the new TV deal is going to prioritize games at this point. Fox is the major partner, and their whole thing is the "Big Noon Game" thing. They pick the lineups, so Iowa and Michigan could wind up as 12 EST games because they are the most enticing option for Fox.
However, that doesn't make a ton of sense for the Big Ten brand, as you'd like to have some big games in primetime as well. NBC carries those games under the new contract, and I believe CBS will start carrying the 3:30 games next year (with some this year but not all). So, that said it's a possibility that the Big Ten could step in and say "no, we want this game at night"... depending on how much say they have in the selection process.
TL;DR - My guess is people are unsure of how games are getting their timeslots under the new deal.
