Penn State has NO business losing any of the next three games and whatever bowl game they get.  Michigan had their number on Saturday, but the other two losses had NOTHING to do with inexperience.  It had all to do with play calling and strategy.

Rebuilding year?  Ok, I will give you that Bill Murray.  You look at things differently and I honestly respect your opinion...you know more than I do and you have more knowledge of the game than I do.  With that said, if it is a rebuilding year, then JF has to take his lumps and coach this team to a 4-0 finish. This not a big task with the talent he has and the remaining schedule.

If he is going to use the word ELITE, then he best step it up the rest of this year.  An ELITE coach with potential ELITE players ( and has them) doesn't lose to MD or RUTGERS and he get's it done against Wisconsin on his home field!  If they come out flat again and get smacked around, its coaching and you can expect more of this again next year. The future starts this Saturday!!!! This is when you dig deep and see just how good you are or can be!!!!

Simple things can often be complex. That is especially true when dealing with adolescents.

Lmao.  He said they are NOT elite. He said becoming elit is going to be a hard road. Wtf is wrong with people?  The other two losses?? They dropped balls, gave up dumb penalties, didn’t catch interceptions....if those players make two interceptions and catch half the balls that hit them in the hands it’s a one loss team. Had nothing to do with strategy.

The way you guys are holding him to that word “elite” is hilarious and shows how easily something gets misinterpereted.  The only statement you made that’s half true is they potentially have elite players.  They do. They’re just young.

He said they are great and striving for elite.  Not sure I would employ the adjective "great" to describe the team.  Potentially great, maybe.

I think the real issue is the expectations, whether CJF encouraged them or we drew them on our own.   Guys like me wanted to believe that we could overcome youth and inexperience.  The point is we could not.  I wanted to believe that catches that Geseicki made could be made by another WR or TE. Same with Saquaon's runs.  An OSU game was not so much a statement as to how good we were at the time, but rather a statement that OSU was not that good and we played them to the end.  I am not blaming CJF for my unrealistic expectations.  JVP would have  a team that would compete for MNC every 4 years or so. He would have a team that would be close but would be lacking a player or two or a guy would need a little more experience.  Following the 2 years of falling short or winning it, we would slump off for 2 years.  I don't blame Franklin for my expectations.  I do lack confidence in some coaches, but those coaches may need a year of experience to develop, just as the player needs the time to develop.  Maybe the exception is the OL coach.  Bottom line is that we are not and have not been a great team this year.

Jag, that's exactly what I've been trying to tell people.  Expectations were too high due to being spoiled by overachieving these past couple years.

Honestly I don't think they overachieved last year. I expected them to lose to Ohio State, but win the other games knowing that they may stumble in a game (happens to everyone).

2016 was definitely beyond expectations, 2017 I think expectations were met, and this year expectations weren't met (though as you said they were probably too high)

At the end of the day we can still be 10-3 at the end of the year. That's three 10 win seasons in a row if it happens. The last time PSU won 10 games three years in a row? 1980-82, so it's been a while.
