Screw who wins the National Championship because it’s really just opinion since we don’t have a real playoff system. To me it’s how many games did you win #1. How many undefeated seasons you have is #2 and how many bowl games you won #3. These 3 things are based on facts not opinions. Add all of it up and the greatest of all time Joe Paterno is all alone at #1 baby. I was reading an article and the article had Joe Paterno #11 lol give me a break. Plus Joe Paterno changed with the times that’s why he was able to coach for so long. Most coaches couldn’t get it done long term that’s why they either retired or got fired! National championship is just all opinions because of all the favoritism it’s that simple

Well, just like UCF racking up wins in the AAC... Is it really just all about wins? Or should it be about who you beat also?

Just saying it should be about more than just win total.

I don't know, now you start getting into "eye test" criteria.  IMO, keep it simple and objective as in Southern's 3 criteria.  Joe Paterno it is!

Comparison is the Thief of Joy!

Does it really matter what other coaches have done or where Joe is ranked? The fact is, WE Penn State fans had the privilege of one the best football coaches of all time walk our sideline. If WE want to claim Joe as the best ever, then the best ever he was!

GO JOE!!

Probably not too many publications have the courage to rank JoePa in the top 5 where he clearly belongs.  They are afraid of the backlash.

I think Joe would come out great either way, he beat A LOT of great teams and A LOT of his bowl wins were major bowls.

But yeah, it does matter. Racking up a bunch of wins against FCS schools like Bowden did to raise his total doesn't impress me.
