Here in Georgia they’re wanting to get away from cops chasing criminals because some folks are getting killed while the cops are chasing the criminals. I’m totally am against it and imo if you’re running from the police they should be able to shoot and kill whoever they’re chasing if it puts anybody in danger. Don’t run and your ass won’t get shot. All of us are in the same boat on odds of getting killed in these incidents so I say let the cops do their jobs and if ole southern gets killed in these incidents…shit happens just get the criminals off the streets and keep ‘em in jail. No way are we to give in to the criminals…period!

Nah, I'd rather the cops not shoot wildly at criminals when chasing them. That's dumb. The whole reason they have hostage negotiations is so the hostages don't get killed, using this logic that "sh*t happens" we'd just go in and start shooting regardless of who gets killed because "the criminals should have listened". That doesn't mean much to the innocent people who got killed.

I mean, we shouldn't let criminals get away, but I think there's a better option than just opening up with civilians around and shrugging your shoulders when someone is killed. Cops should be trained to not only use their weapons, but to know when shooting them is wreckless and stupid too.

@roaminglion  only shoot if it’s putting people in danger. High speed chasing and chasing criminals that have guns on feet is putting folks in danger but If we can chase them without putting people in danger I’m all for not shooting them. Most criminals you can probably get without using a gun. Need to teach kids in school that cops are the good guys and we should always respect cops. I know there’s some dirty cops I’m talking big picture because most cops are trying to keep folks safe.

Arson is not a life sentence crime. Of course the way they add charges on today it might end up that way.

"The man suspected of setting fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's residence over the weekend while Shapiro and his family were asleep inside expressed anger over the ongoing Gaza War, authorities say."

I'd imagine that quote means they are going to add on a hate crime, or terrorism to the charges. Shapiro is Jewish, and the arsonist admitted he did it because of the Israel/Hamas/Palestine/Gaza war. Not to mention it's a crime against a public official to boot. I'd be very, very surprised if they don't charge him along those lines... as they should.

@roaminglion get him for terrorism and ship him to El Salvador. I have no sympathy for these scumbags.

@roaminglion I believe he said he was going to whack Shapiro w/ a hammer too. Not sure why a hammer has become a weapon of choice. Gotta figure attempted murder in there too. Endangering the welfare of a child. They'll have a shopping list by the time they're done.

Since when is crime and punishment political? By the way, American citizens cannot be sent to El Salvador. At least not yet. Guantanamo Bay is always a possibility.

You are correct.  American citizens cannot be sent to El Salvador. At least not without "due process". Which means any person just can't be kidnapped from the street and sent to some foreign prison, no questions asked.

There was an incident around here about 10 years ago with a local cop.  The cop hurried up to catch up with someone with speeds reaching 118mph according to VRA. Cop spun out and killed someone. The officer is in jail now.

Correction: slap on the wrist. I think it was 24 months in prison.

@jimmy-v  I’m assuming the scumbag the cop was chasing was the victim in your eyes and he’s probably walking the streets but the cop went to jail?

Or maybe both were wrong and we don't have to choose?

It's entirely possible that the guy he was chasing was a criminal, and also wrecklessly driving while chasing him and killing people isn't a good thing either.

It was over a silly traffic violation. Illegal passing. There's still an article about it online.  I'm very familiar with the road. Many bends and turns in the road. Speeds over 100mph to catch up with someone over a silly traffic violation of less than 200 dollars.  Is it really worth it? Bad decision if you ask me.

Are you familiar with physics and Centripetal force ?

LMAO @ the retards (lack of) reading comprehension. We may soon need to have a talk about keeping stupidity off this board too.

Any loss of life is precious and the cop accidentally killed somebody but how many lives has cops saved by not letting folks run over a 100 miles per hour? It’s probably not possible to get the data but imo the trade off is worth it. Sometimes shit will happen when folks are breaking the law and innocent people will die. Is what it is.

Nah, I don't want my family killed because some idiot cop thought going 120 mph and weaving in and out of traffic was a good idea to catch someone for a traffic violation.

Cops are trained to restrict high speed chases to certain situations, not go off half cocked for any reason. It puts the public at risk, which is why the rules and law limit high speed chases to specific circumstances.
