HBO will air Paterno on April 7.

Knowing HBO will put a negative slant on the man I don’t think I can watch it unless I hear differently.
Looks like it's going to be a great movie. After watching previews, all I can say is wow. They nailed this one.
You got that from watching the previews?
uhg, looks who’s back.
LOL, why watch the movie when the trailer is so perfect?
I have a feeling that April 1 will have been a more appropriate release date.
Nailed it? The trailer makes fans look crazed, Paterno an old fool and that he knew, and Ganim some kind of Saint. A work of fiction.
I wonder if the movie will lay out that the NCAA come up with new procedures on how to handle these disgusting situations and that the new procedures are exactly what Joe Paterno did?
I would like to think so but not hopeful. It’s too easy to demonize Joe much the same way the Penn State/Joe haters use the terrible Sandusky scandal to rationalize their hate/envy for his success. I hope I’m wrong.
I honestly think they will protray Joe as a man who didn't know, or just couldn't comprehend what was happening.
I don't think they are going to make it out like he fully understood what Sandusky was doing. There's even a part in the trailer about Jerry playing with his kids, and Sue saying "you couldn't have known, you wouldn't have let him play with the kids in the pool if you did"
Unless they are gonna say he's that evil, that he knowingly offered his own kids to Sandusky... I think they will portray him as a man who really didn't think Sandusky was doing what he was doing. I think the farthest they will go is that he should have know, but was in denial.
I hope you are right Roam in that he will be portrayed as someone not aware of what S was doing, as was the case with most everyone. I will wait to hear what others on this forum have to say before I view it. I get so infuriated with the rush to uninformed judgement.
So how close was The Wizard of Oz to reality? I'm sure you watched the previews.
I watched the trailer on youtube, and then made the mistake of reading the comments. After about the 100th person claiming Joe knew and wanted all these kids to get raped I had to speak up and attempt to layout the actual facts of the case. That was my second mistake in a matter of minutes. Narrow minded fools will remain that way - I could have proved something with 100% certainty to them, and it still wouldn't have made a dent in their thinking. So sad these people.
Well so much for my no troll activity I mentioned in the other thread!!! UGHH!!!
I guess sooner or later you knew they would show up.
Lies tickles their ears BOB
Of course trolls will always show up but I think this format is far less troll friendly.I'm sure Caven will be far less tolerable also.At PL it almost seemed like the mods were the ones trolling with the garbage left posted and the innocuous replies and posts swabbed.
Just like a fly at a picnic!!
If you post on this site, you get folks who want the truth and who are unwilling to blindly follow the narrative. If you stay with PL and their individual articles, you get the real trolls. They have a few real gems who post regularly following the "Joe Knew" narrative.
Or like Pitt fans around an outhouse.
