NCAA just announced a proposal where schools are allowed to pay NIL straight to the athletes. I guess they didnt want to say it's salary, but schools would be able to pay athletes directly for their services.... err.... NIL.
my man BK been trying to tell you Roam lol…..whatever they do is okay with me as long as all the athletes men and women get the same amount of money. If a school have 300 athlete every one of ‘em get a check and the same amount. Just put it in the rules it ain’t hard.
College football has gone full blown with no salary cap. Every perennial 3-4th place team and mid tier programs might as well figure on taking an ass whopping every Saturday for their share of league money they will receive at the end of the season. There will definitely be a perennial top 10 going forward if that becomes the model. And coaching salaries will blow through the roof at those schools.
Maybe they're tired of lying, Roam. I still say, dock 'em a certain % if they opt out of a bowl !
No way all athletes get paid the same. Won’t happen. If so better look out for pro women’s soccer, tennis and basketball to go on a rampage.
Football makes money, no other sports do. I seriously doubt a field hockey player will make the same as the starting QB
@psu61 if you don’t pay ‘em all the same with it being the rules you could have most of the team saying they won’t play unless you pay me the same amount. It will help keep a so called strike from happening lol
@roaminglion if it’s the rules they will they’ve been playing for a scholarship all these years because it was the rules. It has to be a rule that’s not debatable. It’s not the NFL or professional
I’ve given up the NFL , guess I can stop watching college football too.
It's NIL money, so they will be able to pay a player whatever their NIL value is. The star QB brings in more $$$ than a field hockey player. If those players don't like it, well that's for the school to figure out. I'm guessing athletes will find out that most schools would rather scrap most other sports entirely than pay a player that already drains money from their athletic department.@psu61 if you don’t pay ‘em all the same with it being the rules you could have most of the team saying they won’t play unless you pay me the same amount. It will help keep a so called strike from happening lol
@southern-psu-fan Southern, I read more about the proposal and while neither of us was entirely correct, you were closer to the truth than I...
It seems that since it's direct from the Universities, Title IX would be a consideration and the total money given to male athletes would have to be equal to the total money given to the female athletes. While each player doesn't have to be given the same amount, it needs to equal out by sex.
So I guess you could pay everyone the same, or give 1 QB all the male money and spread an equal amount out to all the females if a college wanted to.
I think there was a cap on the amount a school could give too.

What a waste of money at Texas A&M. Talk about an ROI fail.
So much for folks saying Bama is forking it over, they are, but not to the extent of the schools above them.
TA&M is a joke with too much money, kinda like Dan Snyder when owning the Deadskins, lol.
