Why did the Ohio State QB go into the portal? And of all places, why did he go to Syracuse?

I assume he felt that coach Day was not committed to him as a starter, and incoming recruits as well as portal QBs woukd take hus job next year.Why did the Ohio State QB go into the portal? And of all places, why did he go to Syracuse?
He is from PA, so maybe he wanted to stay in the northeast? Also, Syracuse just hired the new coach from Georgia... maybe McCoy feels comfortable with him.
All speculation really... who knows, could have been a NIL donor for all I know.
