So keep gettin better and whatever happens on the field, happens which basically is what I’m saying, get better at QB and we’ll beat Ohio St and Michigan because that’s who we’re losing to most of the time but while this stuff is going on find a way to win because if we start losing games we’re supposed to win recruiting will go down the drain. This is just what I see. Fix the QB position!

@southern-psu-fan you keep saying fix the QB position but Hack and Allar were both 5* recruits and obviously you don’t think Allar is very good. Hack had one good year and then JF came on the scene and he gradually regressed. Allar has had JF as his coach since he’s been here but hasn’t come close to living up to the hype. At other schools 5 star QB recruits seem to step right in and become stars (USC,NEB,OSU). How many 5* QB recruits has OSU or USC missed on over the last ten years?

Maybe just maybe the problem isn’t the player but the man at the top. And FYI our lack of player developement at the QB position has already taken a toll on recruiting as the #1 recruit in PA never even took a serious look at PSU and committed to Missouri

When it come to QB recruiting we seem to always go to our backup plan after our top targets commit elsewhere.

I do believe the main reason Hackenberg regressed was the fact that the oline was terrible. The oline was terrible because we had a limited number of scholarships available and we had a bit of trouble recruiting at that time. If you got hit virtually every time you snapped the ball, you might regress a bit as well.

@psujoe  if he picks Missouri it ain’t because of 5* QB’s ain’t working out at Penn St there’s probably something else. We’ve been much better than Missouri the last 10 years….even at the QB position.

i agree 81

LOL what the heck you talking about ? Our lack of player development is most definitely having an impact on recruiting for the QB position and it has been a problem for years.

@psujoe

Development has followed recruiting as well. Penn State has produced at least six picks in each of the last three NFL Drafts, its best run since 1991-93. Penn State led the Big Ten with eight picks in 2022 and tied for fifth (with Clemson, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and Pitt) for the most 2023 draftees. Further, Penn State is one of four schools with at least five picks in each of the last six drafts. The others are Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. This is what I’m talking about Homer. I got it off sports illustrated article. These numbers are pretty dang good. McSorley and Clifford also played in the NFL.

@southern-psu-fan We’retalking about quarterbacks and we sure as hell aren’t famous for putting them in the NFL. Fixing the QB position starts with coaching and when a program becomes famous for coaching up players at a certain position the recruits will want to come. Right now we don’t have a reputation for coaching up QB prospects and that is why elite QB’s won’t even look at us. A couple years ago we had so many recruits reject us that a lot of recruiting analysts weren’t sure if we’d even sign a QB in that class. That was the year we signed Smolik and he was a last minute addition and basically the last option after everyone else we targeted signed elsewhere.

@psujoe  yeah after I posted I was thinking you were just talking about the QB position I was to late telling you that before you read my post. My bad i agree with you on the QB position and that’s why i always stress that’s the position we have to fix to win a NC. Losing out on Justin Fields was a killer that set us back imo

Illinois and MSU aren’t going to be pushovers and that game against Wisconsin is going to have a huge influence on our playoff chances. Oregon looks like they may have finally woken up.

Today ain’t looking good for the big 10. Washington and Wisconsin take it on the chin. UCLA looks like crap Michigan won but didn’t look good which I don’t believe they are that good. The dawgs down 6-3 and it’s half time. Its life in the SEC said smart.

Over the past 3 weeks, from what I have seen, this OC knows how to develop a QB, call plays, and run a very good system. It's not just how much better we've looked early on, it's how badly Kansas has fallen off on that side of the ball.

Kansas's offense is a shell of themselves when Kolnecki was there. They look terrible, and we look organized. Of course still things to clean up, but I feel confident this OC was the right hire.

The Bullpups pulled it out last night Kentucky imo outplayed them. SCAR might have a pretty good football team just by comparing scores. They should’ve beat LSU. I know, should’ve would’ve, could’ve 😂 just saying

Jaylon Daniels has been the starting QB for 3 years there. He was the preseason Big 12 player of the year for the Big 12 in 2023. An injury derailed his season last year.

But yeah, he is still there and the offense doesnt look nearly as good.

Saban did it by buying players with Dodge Chargers and other perks that were against the rules...I am no Jimbo Fisher fan but he hit the nail on the head when Saban was crying about A&M buying players...The only thing different now is that it is out there for everyone and it is a level playing field...That is why Tricky Nicky got out...His edge was gone...Pete Carroll was doing the same crap out at USC before the jig was up and he ran to the NFL...Billy Belicheat was the same...What did he do without Tom Brady?...Big time college football is going to be easy to figure out in the near future unless they change the NIL rules...The schools that have the most NIL money will suddenly surge to the forefront...Texas, Oregon & Ohio State are the big spenders right now that jump out at me...Surprisingly I read an article that Penn State is going to need to step up their NIL game or they are going to be left behind...Schools were throwing money at Singleton and he turned em down to stay at Penn State due to his loyalty to the program...He is an outlier and I can't help but figure that is why they are losing these big name recruits especially the WR talent...It's all about show me the money...The same thing is happening in major college basketball as well...The schools that were at the top and Villanova comes to mind will never happen again as they can't afford to recruit the big name players anymore...They don't have the NIL war chest like these big schools do...I am all for the kids being compensated but I can't help thinking this is ruining the sport to a certain degree...

Prove it, I don't deal in rumors. Go over to a Ohio State or Michigan forum and you'll see them constantly talking about how Paterno was full of it and paid players too. Of course that's garbage. If Jimbo had proof, he'd have done more than just say it.

Even then... I could give you a ton of examples of teams that had all the talent in the world and couldn't win sh*t. Even with great players, you still got to coach em.

It's not a secret...It's out there if you want to find it...You are a keen researcher and I am 100% confident that you will find it...Jimbo Fisher's presser responding to Tricky Nicky Saban crying about A&M buying recruits is out there too...The NCAA turned a blind eye...Same crap went on at USC under Pete Carroll...It is what it is...Same thing about ole Cousin Urban with the coed's down at Florida...That is why he got out of there...Heart problems my rear end...

Yes, 11 wins will get us into the playoffs but I still believe we lose two games which makes games like the one coming this Saturday. Very important. We need to win big because scores like this are going to be compared to what other bubble teams did against the same opponent

Didn't seem to hurt Georgia or Bama when they just squeaked by piss poor teams...And that game Saturday would have been a whole lot different hadn't their starting QB got hurt early in the ballgame as well...They pick and choose which is shameful...
