See link above. Video covers Allar's ability to cycle through progressions, read defenses, timing, mechanics, willingness to pass up low-hanging fruit in favor of bigger plays, and other fun stuff.

1st half of Video: Positive plays. 2nd half: Negative plays. A ton to unpack in this one. Lots of tangents - some oft-repeated on this board, some I'd never heard discussed before with plenty of different examples illustrating why the 2023 passing game was the way it was and why Allar's end-of-year statistics were so confusing and even polarizing.

that’s some good stuff and it tells me what i thought after watching the bowl game live….we have a QB problem more than a WR and OL problem. Hopefully the new OC can get this fixed but I did hear the guy say he was being coached well he just struggles with certain plays.

It’s just my opinion that at this level of football you either got it to beat the heavyweights or you don’t. I’m judging Drew Allar on beating top 10 teams not Rutgers and Maryland I know he can beat them. Dude has studs at every position around him it’s up to him to beat Ohio St and the other big dawg teams. I’m not saying he has to beat all the big dawgs but get me one win and right now he’s 0-3. We’ll see I’m pulling for him you can bet your butt on that.

Drew is a big guy with a big arm, lots of upside and with lots of downside. NFL scouts love him for what he could be, same reason Will Levis got drafted so high and the same Will Levis lost his job to Sean Clifford. We’ve seen this song and dance before, it’s nothing new, even with Hack. Could Drew make strides, absolutely, he’s only 20 years old and I hope he does because if he does then we win. I keep going back to the fact that it’s easy to shine against non conference or bottom barrel B10 opponents but when you watch back the OSU and UM games from last year it looked like he had cement in his shoes. I highly doubt the Defense will be as dominant this year so the offense is going to have to score points. I don’t think it’s fair to compare him to 24 year old QBs last year like Penix Jr who could really throw on 3 different levels but if he unlocks that he will be deadly. I think Drew needs to stay for atleast one more season after this, he’ll probably portal out if this season goes badly and his draft stock tanks.

I'm pulling for him too, but I don't know.  My track record of being wrong has me worried, lol!  I just hope our new OC has a free hand from Jimmy and doesn't wait too long to give Pribula a shot if Allar isn't getting it done.

IMO, he lacks the situational awareness visual mental speed to play at the top level, or in other words his OODA loop decision making just isn't fast enough, and his reaction time is a notch slow. That's the difference between wanting to be a jet fighter pilot and actually getting a seat.
