@been-there-ii

Might be the 8 AM Phys Ed class he got saddled with, or something along that line, lol

He’s been living on top of a mountain above a coal mine fire his entire life and is a perfect example of the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s basically melted his brain and he’s been trying to function for years on less than 100 brain cells.
His limited brain function is the main reason for his OCD and bad habit of repeating things over and over.

@psujoe  Would 12-1winning a playoff game this year get you back on the James Franklin bandwagon? That’s what I believe is going to happen?

Not sure if I’ll ever be back on the JF bandwagon. He had me on it once and let me down too many times.

i do know that a 3 loss season would be a failure in a lot of peoples eyes. He has to make the playoff and probably win a game or his seat is going to start getting warm.

A playoff win would be a big step, that's a big win and much more impressive than meaningless bowl victories.

@roaminglion hopefully with the players being paid the bowl games get back being meaningful.

They won't, anything outside the playoff is just a participation trophy

@roaminglion  if that’s the case I wish they would do a 16 or 20 team playoff and end the season for all the other teams.

Let the bowls go the way of the dinosaurs with the NCAA!

@roaminglion  if the players are getting paid and are coming back the next year I believe they’ll play their hearts out just like they do the last game of the season that doesn’t mean anything. Under the old system you might be right but today I believe it will help the bowls because they’re getting paid to play. I believe our guys tried in the bowl game against ole miss they just wasn’t good enough to beat ole miss with 9 players sitting out. It’ll be interesting to see.

If players are getting paid and they opt out of a game (such as a bowl game), could they have their salary docked?

@rip Nope, can't do that. At that point it's not "name, image, and likeness"... it's pay for play which is not allowed.

@roaminglion

I'm confused.  With all the court rulings, I thought we were going to pay for play????

Nope, pay for play is not allowed... yet.

The Supreme Court ruling allowed schools recruiting top athletes to offer money in education-related benefits such as study-abroad programs, computers and graduate scholarships. But still nothing beyond that, which means that NIL can't be legally tied to on-field playing time. Because that would mean it's not education related, or NIL. It would be paying them to play football.

As I said... "yet". The NCAA is still fighting hard to keep players from being employees. Once that happens, pay for play would be legal.

Thanks, Roam.  I'm simple minded.  In my book, a Benjamin is a Benjamin no matter how you pick it up, lol!
