The SEC and ACC don't want expansion as the whole system is rigged up for them so it's quite obvious why they are squealing like a stuck pig the minute anybody even suggests expanding the playoffs...By the way this isn't anything new as EVERY division in college football EXCEPT Division 1 has an expanded playoff...So you know who is fighting the expansion so ask yourself why? Why are these 2 conferences so worried about an 8 or 16 team playoff? We all know why...The current system is rigged to give them the easiest path to the championship...Their current system of padding the rankings to ensure they all play each other as ranked teams along with the inflation of ranking teams that are mediocre and play them in week 1 or week 2 can continue and mean something...If they allow 8 or even 16 teams in the playoffs their shenanigans will no longer matter...The way it is set up now they only play with themselves...Look at the schedule so far...What really infuriates me is the fact that they don't adjust the quality wins as the season goes along...So Bama beats an overvalued Miami team week 1 and gets credit for beating the #14 ranked team...Now that they are exposed as being an average to below average football team everybody else that beats them gets credit for beating an average team in their SOS...It's a joke...I honestly think they should pick the 5 conference champions no matter their records, 2 power 6 teams and 2 at large power 5 teams...Being a conference champion needs to count for something...Also being a conference champion means you are playing your best football and peaking at the right time...Many of these teams especially the young teams improve by a great deal as the year goes on and that needs to be rewarded...Also a team may have had a slew of injuries early on and might have lost a game or 2 that they may have won had it been played later on due to injuries...I just think being a conference champion should mean something and right now it doesn't...

Conference championship games should be included as part of the playoffs IMO. If a team loses in its conference championship game it's  eliminated.

@psujoe  we’ve got 5 power conference champs take 4 and let ‘em settle it on the field. I know 1 conference champ would get left out but that’s still better than what they do now. I’d rather have an eight team but as long as 4 conference champions are fighting it out that would be good with me.
