Article says they don't know Toney was coming back but it seems concurrent that Toney announces he's returning. If he knew Toney was returning it would seem he didn't want to be the 3rd or 4th DE/
Or maybe just testing the waters.
I'd imagine he sees the writing on the wall with two freshman ahead of him on the depth chart in Oweh and Issac, as well as Simmons and now Toney. Probably would be the 5th or 6th option at DE.
Sad, he was recruited as a 4*, he should be able to find someplace to start and continue an education.
I assume he would play next year as a grad transfer, because he was going to be a red shirt senior this year. If he sat, he'd have no more eligibility left so he must be graduating.
Good luck to him wherever he goes, I wish him nothing but the best. If he goes to a place he can be a starter, who knows what can happen. Some players just need a chance to play in crunch time, he could be a excellent player just buried behind a lot of other talent.
Hopefully he ends up at Ga Tech we need all the help we can get. I believe he’d be good enough to start. It would be a great get for the Jackets 😁
