Clifford had 182 yards of offense on his own in 1 1/2 quarters, and after he went down we had maybe 90 yards total on offense.
It's quite clear why we lost, Clifford got hurt and we don't have two things that can help when that happens:
1. Levis left, so no backup that's ready.
2. No running game. You can game plan around it when your starter is good, but not when your backup comes in if they aren't ready.
If Clifford doesn't get hurt, or we still have Levis, we win that ballgame. Alas, injuries happen and it is what it is. Just be honest about it, don't try to invent things in order to sh*tpost.
17-3 / Clifford goes to locker room / 3-20 the rest of the way. It's not hard to figure out.
- No plan for TQ's abilities? Make him Clifford Jr?
- Not enough game play for TQ. More time against Villanova and IU was possible. He would have had more time had we played the normal early schedule. Starting in the student section every series didn't help.
- Rest of offense folded when Cliff went down
The truth is nothing has changed with this loss...Penn State wins out and I think they will if Clifford comes back they play this outfit for the B1G championship and beat em like a drum...Penn State is 3 TD's better than this outfit
I hope Clifford's injury isn't serious enough to keep him out more than Illlinois next week, other wise its going to be a long season. Have you looked at Iowa's remaining schedule?.....Purdue, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska. Pretty easy pickins'.

Maybe TQ just isn't that good? FFS why is it always the coaches when players just aren't capable. Did Jimbo Fisher, who's won a National Championship, forget how to coach when their starter went down this year? Of course not, that's why the kid playing backup is the backup.
Sometimes you just don't have the depth, it happens. My lord look at Clemson this year, that's a train wreck at QB and the kid was a 5* recruit. It happens, not everyone will produce.
@roaminglion yep, we just ain’t good enough at QB if Clifford is out Levis leaving hurt us at that position. We also got to get better at RB they don’t hit the holes and they run east west. I did notice Roberson hits the holes on QB runs and he ran pretty good. James Franklin has missed on a few recruits and it shows up when we get injuries.

Yup, we need a serious upgrade at QB when Clifford leaves. Maybe the kid from Oklahoma will enter the portal 🤣
Agree that he may not be the guy but to think the supporting cast helped him today is ludicrous. He made some bad throws to open people but the 2nd half offense was a circus, he was only one ring. Except for one drive where he had 2 runs and some short passes there was nothing. Rutgers would have done better.
For a top 10 program it does seem to be a disappointing dropoff at QB...but free agency hurt us at QB.

Absolutely, the OLine and receivers seriously let down TR as well. Total circus is right, it was hard to watch.
Defense just got gassed being on the field so much, Iowa held the ball for 35 minutes to our 25, but more likely it was around 30 minutes of time from the moment Clifford left the game. It changed on a dime, that's for sure.
Did Texas A&M get their starting QB back?

Nope, but after 3 games starting at least he's now got some experience.

Can players leave and play right away after the season starts?
