Arrested for marijuana. Kid says he wants to play in the NFL. Blowing dope won’t help him get there. Hopefully he can get things in order.

Hopefully he gets his act together.  Help for everyone but it doesn't look good on paper down the road.  Pennsylvania is in the mix of legalizing Marijuana just like NY. What are the policies to still make the team ?

Honestly, in this day and age charging someone for pot is just ridiculous. Just legalize it nationally and get it over with, we all know it's coming.

Someday in the future you'll be able to walk into a store and buy a green bud.

I know this is coming but I feel legalizing marijuana will adversely affect our country. Anyway, legal or not, Christian better focus on his physical and intellectual development if he wants to make it to the NFL. I can list many athletes that drugs & alcohol derailed their careers. I’m hoping he receives the guidance that will help him reach his potential.

You are absolutely correct.  However,  it's currently still illegal.

Speculation about the future doesn't mean squat at this point. Illegal is illegal and he has to be punished.

It's already legal in many states, was legal up until 1936, and the only reason it was made illegal was so nylon could be sold without competition from hemp products.

The American Medical Association was against making it illegal, and congress was actually lied to saying the AMA was for it. By the time the AMA found out it was to late.

Then in 1970, it was put on the schedule narcotics list so Nixon could arrest Hippies and Blacks. This was confirmed by people in his administration, not even joking.

Unlike alcohol and tobacco, it also has multiple health benefits, is less addictive, and is practically impossible to die from it. Yet those are legal, and pot isn't.

These are FACTS, it's ridiculous that it was made illegal in the first place.

...and there it is, thanks for posting. This is a good step by the NFL, as many players would actually prefer to use marijuana for chronic pain management rather than oxy, vicodin, or the other meds which are actually terrible for you in the long term.

I can say I've done WAY more stupid stuff under the influence of alcohol, than I have smoking a little weed.

If he was caught drinking underage, would there be as much criticism? And who here didn't have a beer or Boone's Farm back in the day, before they were legal age?

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.

@roaminglion: sad thing is, I remember when Nixon had it put on the list.  I'm all for making it legal.  EVERY morning I rub cannabis cream on my shoulder to get me thru the day.  Migraine??  Roll a torpedo and it'll be gone in no time.

Like my old buddy BT said, I too have done a hell of a lot more dumber things under the influence of alcohol than I ever did smoking a joint.

I get what Remoh is saying too. Its against the law and he needs to be held accountable for what he did. I've been toking the stuff longer than some of you have been alive.    I hadnt heard about his arrest till now.  How much giggle smoke did he get caught with??

Your points are factual; the pro marijuana group has been promulgating that information for years. I still feel society will be hurt. As a fat soluble substance, marijuana stays in the body days and even weeks after use. Although the individual may not look or feel “high” the chemical continues to affect the neural muscular system. When they look at the brains of chronic marijuana users, the cells have a black substance in them. They don’t know what it is but it can’t be good. We know that marijuana smoke is just as bad for the lungs as tobacco is.

In the eighties I was in Amsterdam where marijuana was legal. I saw group of adults in their forties hanging out blowing dope. Their appearance indicated not much was going on with their lives. I thought to myself, it’s good that dope is illegal in the USA.

I laugh when the groups pushing for legalization say that they will make sure kids won’t get it. REALLY! As a retired educator I can say with 100% certainly that marijuana will screw up the lives of thousands is young people.

I can go on Roam but I’ll stop. Your points make sense but my gut instincts tell me legalization of marijuana is a bad thing. (Some of Joe’s best offensive calls came from his gut!)

God Bless America 🇺🇸

The term amotivational syndrome was coined by the US Army in the late fifties based upon their research. I have never seen the movie Reefer Madness.

All I will say is this: Anyone who wants pot is already getting it, it is everywhere and not being stopped by anyone. So legalizing it won't change anything other than bringing it out of the shadows. In the states where it is legal, nothing has changed.

Last thing... passing someone on the street doing nothing doesn't mean that is how they live their entire life. Also, if you truly believe that how could you support alcohol being legal? Go to any major city and you will see a bunch of drunk homeless people drinking from brown bags. Amazing that everyone seems to think that's okay but draws the line at pot. I just don't get it.

I could care less about the pot issue, one way or the other.  Tried it in college and it didn't do anything for me, so I went back to beer, LOL.

As far as things changing when it is legalized, from what I have heard from friends, since PA legalized medical MJ, the price went through the roof at the state licensed dispensaries because of the state taxation.  As a result, a lot of people with the medical MJ card are still scoring it on the street!

Interesting... Here in Oregon it's fully legal and the price didn't change much. The pharmaceutical grade stuff is a bit more pricey because it's more specialized and grown to specific measures. My wife loves it, she can just tell her patients to go get some marijuana for the pain if they want, and doesn't have to prescribe them something that amounts to killing a fly with a cannon. Also, she doesn't need to prescribe it at all.

In the end, I know people have different opinions on it and there are fair points from many sides. That said, bring on the legalization! LOL

@tsuga I had my first beer while I still had to pedal my bicycle to get to my, not so secret, little brookie stream. Ran into a guy that was camping there, he gave me a Rolling Rock Pony. Can't say as I was impressed with my 1st beer and less impressed that ran into another fisherman on "my" stream.

Navy, Never had anyone Gimme, Gimme a Gibons. My grandfather used to take us kids to the Legion, we'd have Cokes, he'd have Schmitz.
