Hack is scheduled to start again for the Memphis Express tonight.  Anyone who wants to watch,  the game is on the NFL channel at 8 PM.  I'll be pulling for him as I always do for former Lions.  Hope he does better then last week!

No he's not Navy.  The whole offense looks out of sync.  At least they got a field goal.

The Memphis defense is playing one heck of a game.

Hack's offensive line sucks.  He has no time.  Brady would suck if he was on this team.

I wonder if Hack will actually throw a pass more than 10 yards down the field this season. Singletary should probably replace him with Mettenberger. He can’t be any worse.

It really doesn't look good for Hack.  I don't think he is getting much help from his Oline & receivers, but I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses.  He just doesn't seem to have it.  I'm still pulling for him and hope he improves as the season goes on, but I'll be surprised if he does.

Hack’s playing days are over. It’s time for him to grow up.

I want to ask a legitimate question of you guys, at what point will you finally say "Hack just was never a good QB?"  and admit pulling for him to succeed in the NFL is like pulling for Anthony Morelli or Jay Paterno to be an NFL quarterback.  When does this story finally go away and become "one of the worst quarterbacks.....or one of the biggest PSU quarterback busts"?  please, for the love of all things PSU, let it go..

I’m with ya Murray he isn’t a good QB for the NFL and he was average  in college but probably great in high school. I’ll admit I pull for him just because he did play  at  penn st because I always pull for penn st players. But if somebody is willing to pay him for doing something he likes I’d keep playing too lol. If you remember I was calling for McSorley after the NW game his Jr year because he was stinking up the field. Most QB’s don’t make it as far as he has so he’s done pretty good.i also believe he had a good freshman year because he did get freshman of the year

Now is the time for me Bill! I rooted for him and hoped he would turn it around but it is not happening. He made a nice chunk of change during his few years in the NFL and about $85 grand this year, time to move on.

I want to ask you a question bill, at what point do you finally realize "why do you care?"

Ask yourself why you care so much that everyone else stop pulling for him to succeed? I mean, my lord you are entitled to your opinion but it seems like you're pissed off that everyone else has a different one because you literally cannot stop yourself from entering a Hackenberg discussion and stating that he was never good and no one should be pulling for him.

Just let it go man.

You're right, he's not an NFL QB he's an AAf QB and because of that, I'll root for him to succeed.  Will he succeed??  Probably not, and at such time I'll wish him the best in his future endeavors.  I think Hack knows he's not an NFl QB but his love for the game is what keeps him putting on the helmet and heading for the huddle; and I admire him for that.  Who are any of us to tell him to hang it up??  Mr Murray, why do you do what you do??  Isnt it because you love the game and want to be as close to it as possible??  Why should Hack be any different?? If its a matter of you wanting to be right, just wait a bit; CH may be out of the league in a few weeks and at that time you can come on here and thump your chest and let us all know that you were right.  But, until that time; im going to root for him, and all the PSU guys still playing.

Here's why I root for him:  I watched him take hit after hit after hit every Saturday and still get back up and get into the huddle. When the sanctions hit he could have gone to another school but he honored his commitment.  When there was a coaching change and the incoming coach's system didnt match his style of play he should have transferred but he didnt.  I personally admire the guy and that's why I root for him.

What baffles me is why you feel we shouldnt root for him because "he wasnt good"?  With that line of thinking should we not root for any of the bench players because "they're not  good"??

You're the one that needs to let it go.  You're obsession as to why we choose to pull for the guy is somewhat strange.  I think Roam was right when he said Hack stole your kid's lunch money.

Bill, I understand what you're saying and you're probably right that he never was a good quarterback.  I won't make that judgement because I never saw him play before PSU.  What I did see is a guy who had a really good freshman year at PSU and then went down hill from there.  You're absolutely correct about the present.  At this point in time he is not a good qb, but I'll still pull for him to be the best that he can be as long as he keeps trying.  It's not in my nature to not support a former Lion.  As far as "when does this story finally go away?", I think it's up to Hack.  When he finally calls it quits and stops trying, I'll be the first one to let it go.

Yes, things didn't work out for him. The kid never gave up on what he likes. That's most important and I appreciate his work ethic.  Believe me, he's not worried about bloggers (owners) on a website or what they say and certainly isn't worried about someone having sissy fit because penn state lost football games.  He's worth millions of dollars.

Not sure Hackenberg is worth millions but hopefully he invested wisely his signing bonus. For his sake he better not be concerned about what knuckleheads like us think of him. Regardless, football people that know a lot about the sport think he should start banking on the education he received at PSU.

Roam, in bill’s defense, he didn’t start this thread and just as yourself, stated an opinion once it got rolling.

No Bill didn't start this thread Lake, I did.  I simply provided information on the telecast of the game in case anyone wanted to watch.  Nowhere did I offer an opinion as to whether Hack is a good QB or not.  I just said I'd be pulling for him as I do for all former Lions and wished him well.  Bill took it from there which is fine.  I don't think he needs to be defended.  He has a right to his opinion as does everyone else.

I know he didn't start it, that's the point. The thread was started by someone saying "I'm pulling for Hack" and others stated this as well. A benign gesture made by posters who were hoping he did well.

There's simply no reason to come onto a post promoting nothing but "I hope he does well" to say someone isn't good, was never good, should give up, and basically that the posters are all stupid for wanting him to succeed.

As I said, he's entitled to his opinion but I have no idea why, if he doesn't care at all, he constantly feels the need to express to people that only want to see the kid do well that he sucks and should quit. It's kinda strange.

I thins doesn't mean I don't like Bill, I think he's a great poster I just don't agree with him on this. I mean, it's one thing to say a kid stayed to long and should retire, it's another to keep saying "he sucked when he was here" like none of us got the message the first 99 times he said it. LMAO

Right! Words matter and how its said matters more. Trouble is, the written word never communicates quite as clearly as the spoken. So here’s the thing. Bob Kozak, it was a good thread you started and provided a reminder to watch Hack in the new football league. Great job! After that came a few observations on his performances, I did not see anything particularly snarky around Hack other than he was struggling mightily. Various opinions have been expressed but I don’t think I ever read a thread that did not appreciate his contributions to PSU though it does seem he is a lightening rod for strong opinions. Bob Kozak, you are correct in that bill doesn’t need me to defend him and I’m guessing he likely wishes I hadn’t. Bill is a good guy, very close to the game, knows what he’s talking about and very passionate about anything football and Penn State. At the end of the day all of us that post here are knowledgeable and passionate about Penn State football. So before I lose any readers interest as I ramble, this is a great forum to talk about what’s on our minds. I mean no disrespect to any one that posts here unless you are blatantly disrespectful. Keep up the good work. Now I gotta go because Dr. Phil is on.

I agree too.  I always look forward to Bill's posts as well as yours Roam, Lake, Southern, etc, etc.  I'm always looking to hear a different opinion unless it's someone who is obviously trolling (I think we all know who that is, LOL).
