Was just named the starting QB of the Memphis Express in the new Alliance of American Football. I like the concept of the new league: it is not meant to compete with the NFL like the former AFL or USFL, but be used as a minor league.

If it can do well, it would also serve to take a lot of pressure off of the NCAA regarding treatment of athletes. Don't like the NCAA rules? Go play in the AAF.

Best wishes to Hackenberg! Perhaps with a lot of pressure off of him, and much less publicity, he can work to correct his issues and grow as a player. Who knows.

Wish the best for him.  I'll always respect him for sticking with us and honoring his commitment when it would have been very easy to turn tail and transfer.

I'm watching the game now, San Antonio Commanders vs San Diego Fleet.  The Commanders have 2 former Penn State players, or well sort of.  Deion Barnes is their starting LineBacker.  If my memory serves, he left PSU playing DE as a junior thinking he was ready for the NFL.  The other player's school is listed as Penn State Beaver - guess he graduated from one of the branch campuses and did not play for the Nits.

As far as Hack goes, been reading lots about how a technical glitch in his throwing motion has been fixed and he is now playing at a much higher level then what we saw at PSU.  Guess only time will tell, but should be fun to watch.  I will be looking for all Penn Staters.

Hope his mechanics are corrected Bob, but I'm more worried about his confidence (or lack thereof).    Again, wish him the best, will be watching today at 4PM & pulling for him to do well.

Poor slow start for Hack - 1st pass complete 10 yards,  2nd was a throw away, 3rd almost picked, but was a real good play by the corner.  4th sort of a throw away - 5th pass was a slant that got deflected up in the air and picked.  So 1 for 5 with 1 Int to start.

Hacks having a very rough day.  I feel sorry for him.  He seems like such a nice guy.  But something has happened to his abilities to play qb.

Man, Hack looks bad. Overthrows, a pick, getting sacked . It looks like nothing has changed. I wonder how long he starts.

In my opinion, Hack really looks lost out there.  Also, I don't think his mechanics are any better.  No touch on the ball.

Maybe so.  I was just hoping he would do good.  I'm rooting for him.  It's just painful to watch.

Roam, is it a little money in your pocket vs a college degree? Can kids go straight to this league out of high school?

Bill, is it at all possible that you could just once not go back to how he was "never good" and maybe try and pull for the kid. Its a little bit weird how you can't talk about him without referencing how much he sucked when he was here rather than just wishing him well. Did he steal your kids lunch money or something? LMAO 😂

I'm guessing that they'll probably have the same rules as the NFL. However, that also means that kids that may not get drafted into the NFL decide to leave early to go to this league instead.

Perhaps kids that just can't cut it in college with grades will now have an avenue to gain experience in the AAF, though again I'm uncertain what their rules are. Probably 3 years removed from High School?

Brother,  I read where they get a 3 year contract for about $250K or about $85 a year, and if they get picked up by the NFL they can be let out of their contract.

Well Said Roam.  I dont understand the need to kick the guy when he's down.

Murray, we all know how you feel about the guy so im a bit puzzled why you feel the need to remind us each and every time his name comes up??  Just curious, how many looks did you get out of high school??  How about college??  Kinda ironic that you take shots at Hack every chance you get but if someone makes a disparaging remark about JF you get your panties in a bunch, dontcha think??

BECAUSE I'M A REALIST.  It's doesn't matter if I got looks or not in HS. Why on earth would I pull for a kid WHO WAS ONLY A GOOD HS QB?  My God people.  Every year for the last 6 years a bunch of you keep "pulling for the kid".  WHY?  How bout this: Christian, you're not a very good QB, go use that degree.   I have nothing personal. I state my opinion, which appears to have been correct for the last 6 years.   I also find it comical the "because he was "here"" we must pull for him.  And what does me supporting Franklin have to do with Hack not being good, ever? I NEVER beat around the bush, never hope a broken egg will hatch, and I'd rather not see someone keep trying to do something they just arent good at doing.

I watched about 75% of that game - he barely had any time to throw - the few overthrows I saw were only inches beyond the receiver and all were with someone barrelling down on Hack and in his face.  Very similar to the Temple game a few years back.  He had good touch on the throws when he had time in the pocket and the pick he had was tipped.  Hard to put the poor stats all on his shoulders - the TEAM got whooped up on, both sides of the ball.

Oh please Bill, if you had nothing against him you wouldn't comment about how bad he was every single time anyone brings him up. You just wouldn't say anything at all, but it's not in you to pass up an opportunity to say he was terrible. Why do you care if others are pulling for him? What possible reason is needed to "remind" us how bad he was if we are hoping he succeeds?

In your previous post you stated "use your degree to do something else"... Yet I've NEVER seen you say that about any other Penn Stater in the NFL hanging around on a scout team. It's always "good for him", or "he's a fighter". Yet for Hack, you basically say "just quit and go away"

Just own it.
