I hope all of you and your family are ok. I'm sure we will get through this. Kind of busy lately staying home, working remotely. In my free time I do things around the house and distancing myself. I went to the store for a few things and got out quickly. I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the news. Looking at the bright side of things my understanding is that they are putting together a stimulus package. I can only imagine how hard it is to lose a job with kids during this crisis. I just hope the stimulus favors the people who really need it, not the greedy corporate who are looking to fill their pockets.
Need to get help up in NY them poor people are gettin hammered with this virus. I like the governor of NY he’s working his butt off and he’s saving lives he just needs help and needs it now. Hang in there NY we’re praying for ya and hopefully the needed help will be there quick.
SPF, I'll give you that he's trying. As for his governing policies not related to the virus, you can have him and all the down state tax and spenders, including the ever whining Chuck Schumer.
i don’t agree with his politics I just believe he’s doing a great job keeping things together. It takes guys like chuck to keep republicans as honest as possible lol. After 8 years of George W we need ole chuck to keep an eye out lol
Just asking because I don’t know. Since this is a world wide virus and people has to be quarantined why can’t everything shut down for a month where no bills are due and people can stay home without stressing out over losing their jobs and their homes? Doctors, stores and truck drivers I know have to keep going but everybody else stays home. Hope I’m explaining the question right lol. Yes this stuff is way over my head lol
Thanks for asking Southern. During this time it’s important to be together and disregard politics. For transparency my own political view is Democratic so I don’t view Schumer as being whining. I love Southen’s viewpoint that Dem’s and Rep’s are doing all they can do get over this hump.
The Lakerie household is holding up quite well though we miss going out. I’m retired and have pension, social security, and investment income so we don’t worry about the $’s. We would love to to volunteer but social distancing keeps us from doing that. We order a lot of restaurant carry out with HUGE tips. We soooo appreciate everyone that goes to work ( especially guys like you Southern, truck drivers, that keep everything moving. When going to the grocery store or pharmacy we always thank them for going to work. Thankfully the weather here has been nice if not chilly allowing us pleasant walks and meeting neighbors and walkers hungry for conversation at a safe distance.
Thank you ALL for keeping this blog site alive and sustaining friendships .
Must be we get different coverage of ol' Chuck here w/ the local stations. He reminds me of Jim Boehime when he doesn't get a foul called. I'm fine if he whines, IF he presents his solution to the problem.
On a side note, no I didn't vote for Trump.
haha Yeah, thinking about it a little more, I believe most of my agitation comes because we see Chuck almost ever night, he farts and it makes the local evening news here. We never hear much at all about Nancy P. & she has way more clout than he does.
been there, I work with 11 guys at my plant and 7 of ‘em are Republicans and 4 of ‘em are democrats and all the democrats think I’m republican and all the republicans think I’m democrat, I’m doing something right lol. Ole chuck is Trump in the flesh baby that’s why I like both of ‘em. IMO I like both sides fighting it out to get something done moving at a snails pace because that’s what the founding fathers wanted. Rather you like trump or chuck both are great for the country and they’re great for tv ratings lol
Let’s us try to be objective and look for a positive end result. I do appreciate the comrodare ( sp?). This is a good place where all blessings are appreciated .
Right now I'm very glad my wife and I decided to live in a more rural area, because the cities are really seeing the worst of this. Just so much harder to contain and slow the spread in major urban centers.
Case in point, everyone keeps saying New York State is getting hammered, but it's really NYC. That city and it's surrounding urban zone are where most of the issue is.
You got it Roam! Onondaga county (City of Syracuse) has/had 81 confirmed cases yesterday, 20 miles west in Cayuga county (farm country) we only have 3 cases and they're in the "city" of Auburn. The farther out in the stick I am, the safer I feel!
Hello Lads,
Good to read that all of you are still hanging in there. As for me, I've been practicing social distancing for a number of years now. Was hoping to have a surprise B-day party for my wife next month but the cronie virus put the kabash to that.
We're both doing fine up here, I guess as well as can be expected from a couple of old farts.
BT....That wasnt me down in your hometown stuffing g-strings with dollar bills. Not that i wouldnt want to be mind you, its just that I wasnt.
I know I have been awol for quite a while now but where are and how are the other guys??

really good to hear from you!
Hey you!!! Just saw a herd of deer out my daughters back door tonight. I know you know the area well. One mile North on rt30 on the Old Trail between her backdoor and 83N. I explained to her, if things get tight we will be processing deer on her patio!! SHe has been watching Alaska the New Frontier with me, so she is already capable of setting snairs....and there are plenty of rabbits to go around. Can't find yeast anywhere in York, so I am won't be able to have bread with my dinner!!
Hope you are doing well!
Go State!
Hey T! Nice to see you located your keyboard again. Only 110" of snow this year, better than 4' short of my avg. But hey, I might be able to get back into the hills for brookies on the April 1st trout opener. Although w/ most folks off work, I might run into another fisherman out there and have to practice my social distancing.
Mt Nit, back in the "old days" you just let a mixture of water and flour sit out for a few days, the wild yeast and a few other microbes gives you a sour dough starter. Once you get a good starter going, just save it in a canning jar in the fridge. You will have to feed it on occasion. Have had my starter for going on 20 yrs.
Hey Bud, had to blow the dust off of it (my keyboard) but I managed to find it. We had a mild winter up here. 86" of snow so far (still have snow on the ground) and only a few days with sub-zero temps. Took a loooooooong walk yesterday looking for sheds and such. The deer herd is doing nicely up here for a change. Still boiling sap and will probably finish out the month and then wrap that up for the year. Walked up along my favorite stream and it sure was tempting to wet a line. Our season starts on April 1st...been feeling the itch to get out there for weeks now!!!
Heck yeah I know that area. Were they on the Rutter's farm or Sinking Springs farm?? Is SS farm still there?? I heard that Louis Appell passed away a few years back and his family was going to sell it off. I actually grew up in the Roundtown area.....even went to Lightner Elementary back in the day..... and Hayshire was part of my old stomping grounds. My mother lived in the Hayshire development up until she passed away many years ago.
How'd ya do hunting this year?? Did you ever catch up to the big one you were seeing near Indian Rock dam?? I was able to get a nice 7 pt #189 lbs (dressed) here in maine and a decent 6pt over in NH.
One more thing.....dont listen to BT, that old fart hasnt been able to get anything to rise for 10 years now.
I'll tell him. Dosnt he come on here anymore?? When I've talked to him in the past I always told him to give you guys my regards and to say "howdy".
I kind of assumed he was still on here on a regular basis.
Not sure about SS, but the deer ran onto Rutters land. My wife and daughter saw two rack bucks about a month ago walking down 83S along the guard rail in the same area as where I saw the deer yesterday.
No, I did not get the big buck at Indian Rock. There is about a 10 acre Federal Posted area that somehow people have access to. A guy was about 20 yards off the road, up a tree and shot a 9 point opening morning. Had he not been there, it would have walked into the field I was standing in.....I hunt the field that borders the protected land. No buck for me, my neighbor got two doe and gave me one. I have meat for the year!
They have been stocking stripers in Redman and Pinchot for years. We have been catching quite a few over 10lbs at night with top water plugs. The water just hit 50 degrees this week, we went out the other night and only had one feeding. Next weekend they should start ramping up and we should do good!
Take care and glad all is well.
@tsuga lol Oh, it'll rise, but once it's done in the oven, it's sour and crusty. Oh yeah, and I'm told I make the best sticky buns in town.
Lol man y’all killing me lol. It’s been a while since the PA kid checked in but when he does he tells us how you’ve been and says you say hello.
