I like ‘em it will speed the OT up and IMO it will be more exciting. I think it was ESPN where I read it.

"Coaches should not enter the field of play or leave the team area to debate officiating decisions. Those who do so will have committed an automatic unsportsmanlike conduct foul."

Finally. No ambiguity, keep your a$$ where it belongs or get penalized

@roaminglion It'll be interesting to see how well/often it gets enforced.

@been-there-ii

Probably will depend on who the offending coach is!

It's a "point of emphasis", so usually that mean it gets enforced in a zero tolerance sort of way.

@been-there-ii As if the OT rules weren't "Mickey Mouse" enough, they make them more clownish..

Just follow the NFL, who has this right, go to middle of field, flip the coin and PLAY FOOTBALL..

Please no. The NFL rules are so stupid that the NFL MVP never even got a chance to see the field in overtime during the AFC Championship game.

The Patriots won due to a coin flip, Brady marched them to a TD while Mahomes could do NOTHING but watch.

...And the "KC defense had a chance to stop them" argument is BS, we all know we live in an offense 1st era.

@roaminglion...its not BS   Stop them if you  dont like it, at least its football

These geniuses devised this Mickey Mouse crap, because they thought it would minimize fatigue, shorten the OT, and bring game to a speedy conclusion..Guess what, it didnt work, they never envisioned 3-4-5-6-7 "OTs"..So now, they realize, finally, something has to be done , and in lieu of scrapping, they attempt to salvage  a bad system..

Funny you bring up an example, involving the GOAT...Ive seen a lot of NFL OTs where that DONT happen..

JUST PLAY FOOTBALL,  NFL OTs dont last too long on average, and if they go an extra period, its  a tie..

I see a lot of college OTs that don't last past 2 OTs too... so neither lasts any longer than the other. Simple fact is in the NFL you possibly cut out 1 half of an entire team ever seeing the field. In college, you don't.

Funny you say "just play football", but like an OT system where it's possible that half of the starters never even play.

If you cant hold an opponent  to a FG when they get the ball 70-80 yards out, that's on you, and maybe , just maybe, you dont deserve to win  THat's  a lot different from getting  the ball 3 yards out, LOL...

Flip the coin, GO PLAY FOOTBALL..

Simple fact is in that situation you are only playing HALF the game and saying the other team's offense doesn’t matter.

I'd rather see each whole team play, not just a half.

Either way, to each their own. Sorry you find college OT rules frustrating, never fun if that's the case.

I know the feeling, by watching the NFL OT 🤣🤣🤣
