Did Y’all see the shot he took in a MMA match. This dude was one bad azz on the wrestling mat one of the best I’ve ever seen but man he took a shot that put him lights out. The fight was a couple of weeks ago I just happen to run up on it. Check it out.

this is it. It didn’t show the hit I seen but he put him on ground. Make no mistake Ben was an awesome wrestler and if it was wrestling I’d definitely put my money on Ben lol
This guy was one of the best and respected collegiate wrestlers of his day but he seriously needs to figure out what his grown up career is going to be.
@lakerie. Good morning Lake hope everything is great on your end brother. I think he made 500k for 90 seconds worth of work that’s pretty good money 💰lol. Honestly I think he’s got to old for that kind of life so I agree with you.
@southern-psu-fan That wasn't an MMA match, that was an "exhibition" boxing match.
I think he took a dive! Now when he fought Jorge Masvidal in a real MMA match, he took a flying knee to the head and got put to sleep!
@lakerie Lake I think he knows exactly what his career is. He is a wrestling coach. He was very clear before the "exhibition" and after, that win or lose it had absolutely no bearing on his legacy as a wrestler, wrestling coach or MMA champion or on his life. It seemed pretty obvious he did it purely for an easy payday.
Also, he was not ever known know for being a striker in MMA his ground game/wrestling and ju jitsu was his strength, he had a record of 19-2 of which 13 wins were decisions or submissions.
@navylion. Thanks buddy for clearing that up because I was looking at the news and clicked on it thinking it was a mma because I thought that’s what he was doing now. I should’ve caught it because he didn’t try and take him down. He’s one tough dude I know that much especially on the mat. Sorry guys I didn’t know it was a boxing match.
Just seems like an awful way to make a living, $550K or not, hits like that are gonna have an after effect.
I read this from Wiki, he should stick to it while he still has his wits.
"He is competitive in the sport of disc golf. In 2009, Askren finished ninth in the Amateur World Championships.[77] Askren is sponsored by Discraft.[78] He is also involved in cryptocurrency investing.[79]
Askren co-hosts a few weekly wrestling podcasts: 'FloWrestling Radio Live' with Christian Pyles on FloWrestling, 'The Funky & FRB Show' with Front Row Brian on Rokfin and 'The T-Row & Funky Show' with two–time NCAA champion Tommy Rowlands.[80]."
@lakerie no doubt Lake! I mean the guys is renown for his wrestling and has retired from MMA but runs his own wrestling academy!
Now Jake Paul is flapping his jaws at Mayweather but I got news for him, Floyd Mayweather is a boxers and Mayweather will knock him into next week lol

Mayweather is a punk who only fights when he has the advantage. If he really wanted to prove himself, he'd face McGregor in a MMA match rather than only boxing him. I actually had much respect for McGregor when he boxed him, the dude stepped out of MMA and into a boxing ring with someone who's 50-0. And he kinda held his own for a bit.
Put Mayweather in the octagon and he'd get blitzed, and he knows it.
@roaminglion. Oh I agree, boxing is a totally different sport than MMA is the MMA guys just need to get the legs on a takedown and it’s over because true boxers can’t wrestle. Personally I don’t think Mayweather or Jake Paul would beat Ben Askren in a MMA fight because it’s not possible for either one of them to compete on the mat and beating McGregor would be even harder. Now if Mayweather gets a shot in he would take ‘em out but we both know Professional good MMA fighters would go straight for the legs and it’s over after that and I’m sure Mayweather knows this too. But don’t cut Mayweather short in boxing Roam he’s one of the top boxing champs that ever lived I definitely have him in my top 5 he was a bad azz.

Bro stick to your football top 5. How could you have a boxing top 5 without Muhammad Ali, next thing you know you'll be putting that clown Jake Paul in your top 5 WTF??? Oh, by the way Ali beat Shavers in 77 by unanimous decision and shavers fought bums through out most of his career... Also, how could you not have Foreman in there with a record of 76-5?????? Come on MAN!!!!
I had ‘em honorable mention lol. I said if I did a 6-10 they could be top 5. I have clay and Foreman in there. I call him clay not Ali lol. Navylion, did you watch the Foreman and Lyle highlights? Man that was a slugfest

Southern I remember watching this fight as it happened back in the days when I loved boxing. I was such a huge fan of the sport and also actually trained and boxed for years out of my uncle’s gym (lakerie would probably recognize his name). Thanks for the nostalgic memories.
@psuinhawaii. Man I loved boxing too Hawaii I was a huge Larry Holmes fan I was probably the only one in the neighborhood that liked Larry Holmes. My daddy was an Ali fan I remember waiting at a restaurant for who won the fight with my daddy. Holmes destroyed Ali but I admit Ali was gettin old at the time. Boy when Holmes hurt ya you couldn’t get him off after he smelled blood the dude was a finisher. Hope everything is great over your way buddy keep safe.

Thanks Southern, it’s all good over here. In fact we’re getting back so many tourists now that I kind of miss the quiet days of a few months ago. It’s funny Southern cause my father was also the biggest Ali fan. We went to watch that Ali/Holmes fight at a theater which showed it closed circuit. My father was so nervous before the fight but I knew Ali was so beyond his prime that he had no chance. You remember when Renaldo Snipes dropped Holmes in Pittsburgh? Holmes was genuinely dazed as I think Don King swallowed his cigar. Of course he recovered and kicked ass afterward. Anyway, sorry for all the nostalgia and hope all is well with you also.
WHAT??!!! NO ROCKY BALBOA? Because if you can catch a chicken, you can catch greased lightning.
@psuinhawaii. Yes and remember ken Norton hurt Holmes as well and Holmes recovered and won that fight. Larry Holmes was tough and he could take a punch that’s why he won 48 straight fights he was just to old there at the end to get 49. When Holmes was in his prime they threw everything they had at him but nobody could beat him until he was just to old to compete against great young fighters. That’s why I have Larry Holmes at #2 behind Mayweather because unlike Ali, joe, Spinks, iron mike, George, the real deal, Lewis, Norton and all the other great fighters Larry didn’t lose why he was in his prime nobody rained on his parade until he got old. 60’s-90’s boxing was one brutal tough sport and Larry was the best because he didn’t lose while he was young in his prime.
BTW for all the boxing fans am I the only one that thought Ken Norton kicked Ali’s butt all 3 times because I don’t think Ali won none of ‘em Norton kicked his butt from what I seen in all 3 fights?
Personally, I am not a fan of Ali... mainly after reading, watching, and otherwise learning about his treatment of Malcolm X, Joe Frazier, and countless others.
Everyone says he was so courageous for refusing to go to the Vietnam war, yet fails to mention his cowardice in turning his back on Malcom X when he stood up for what was right. Completely shunned him after calling him a friend, just let the Muslim Brotherhood tell him what to do. All because Malcom X dared to say blacks and whites could live together in harmony, and that they shouldn't be preaching segregation.
Also, he was a loudmouth fool who continually disrespected Joe Frazier, even after Frazier put his own career on the line to get Ali reinstated. I mean, Ali would show up to charity events where Frazier was working with kids in Philly to talk smack. WITH KIDS IN HIS HOMETOWN.
Ali was a certifiable a$$ho@#
@roaminglion. Exactly right roam!
