The goat Joe Paterno top15 best players. There’s some bad ass dudes on there but no MROB. That’s BS. 2005 and 1994 are the 2 best offenses we’ve ever had. It’s got 2 players on there from the 05 defense that let michigan score a TD after MROB drove down the field to take the lead. It’s not a shot at Puz and Connor, just saying. It’s still a great article though lol. IMO MROB is the best all around football player to play at Penn St and he does have a SB ring.
There is always going to be players left off a top list that could and should be there...The question is if you put MRob there who do you remove...You only got 15 slots...LOL...It's tough and the article did what it was supposed to do...Created debate...
I’d put Jack Ham #1 JC#2 MROB #3 LJ #4 and keep the rest just like they are they just slide down and 2 slide out. Sorry Evan, you just wasn’t quite this good baby. How do you not put LJ and MROB on that list for goodness sakes lol
@rip Ain’t nobody safe in that top 15 brother when it comes to LJ and MROB. These are 2 studs I’d put up against anybody that’s ever played college football. Definitely in the goats Joe Paterno’s top 5. Blackledge just happened to be 15 I guess I did go back and look but I remember Even Royster being on the outside looking in lol
Royster was very good, but not great. Let him stay on the outside, lol. On the other hand, Blackledge led us to our first National Championship in 1982 beating GEORGIA in the Sugar Bowl. He's gotta be in!
It's easy why they arent on the list, both only had 1 good season. Plain and simpleI’d put Jack Ham #1 JC#2 MROB #3 LJ #4 and keep the rest just like they are they just slide down and 2 slide out. Sorry Evan, you just wasn’t quite this good baby. How do you not put LJ and MROB on that list for goodness sakes lol
@roaminglion at the time the team was struggling but if it’s about being a top15 play both should be on there. The 2 dudes were just absolute beast. If Wisconsin names their best 15 players I bet Russell Wilson would be near the top. I guess that would be a good analogy lol
When you are known as LBU, you cant complain about LB's like Puz being ahead of MRob lmao@roaminglion at the time the team was struggling but if it’s about being a top15 play both should be on there. Yeah you said 1 TD means they shoukd be lower on the list. LMAO, naw...@roaminglion I laid that out in an earlier post.
@roaminglion you dang straight Roam, that TD that Puz and Conner was on the field for on the last play of the game against Michigan cost us a chance to play for the NC. Well, we both know we wouldn’t have got in over Texas or USC because that’s just the way it is but it did cost us another undefeated season. Penn St has never had a player that impacted the team like MROB did IMO but I only go back to 1975 because that’s when I started liking Penn St football so the great Jack Ham and JC may have I didn’t watch them play live only replays. I do love ‘em all though so it’s a win, win for me lol…..like FD said, the article did it’s job lol
That is the dumbest reason I've heard for why or why not someone should be high or low on a list.@roaminglion you dang straight Roam, that TD that Puz and Conner was on the field for on the last play of the game against Michigan cost us a chance to play for the NC. The previous week MRob played an awful game (79 yards passing) and we almost lost to Ohio State because of it. The reason we won? Poz and the defense.
You are very selective in your thinking.
@roaminglion What do you do when it’s nitty gritty crunch time when the game is on the line Roam? You get it done or you don’t!
And the previous week MRob didnt get it done, the defebse did. Constantly bailed him and the offense out to beat the Buckeyes. He was awful in that game. The offense went 3 and out 4 straight times to end the game, constsntly letting OSU get the ball back@roaminglion What do you do when it’s nitty gritty crunch time when the game is on the line Roam? You get it done or you don’t!
Might I add that MRob threw a late INT in the Michigan game... and the only reason he got another chance was the defense.
And don’t forget the 52 yards and the TD MROB had on the ground in that Ohio St game. We had a bad ass defense and Ohio St didn’t get anything done either but the difference is MROB did his job in the Ohio St game to get the win. I never said he would just beat you with his arm he did it with his legs also.
OMG Mrob did his job? How is it that when he plays terrible you still say he "did his job" lmao. And don’t forget the 52 yards and the TD MROB had on the ground in that Ohio St game. He fumbled in the Michigan game, he threw a late INT in the Michigan game, and the defense scored a TD in that game too.
You look at one drive at the end and say MRob was the reason we would have one if just the defense held. FFS his INT would have sealed the game had the D not stopped Michigan and gave him another chance.
It's absolute nonsense to say Puz imshould be lower on a list because of 1 drive. Effing stupid. Especially since he was great his entire time at PSU. MROB was great for 2/3 of a season. He sucked against USF, he sucked against OSU and he didn't play well against Michigan either.
Your logic makes zero sense sometimes
So one year doesn’t count for Penn St but it does Wisconsin? MROB also was on the team for 4 years he was just asked to play different positions to help the team.
Must have been a MROB hater whoever made that list and left him out lol
Why do I give a chit about some random blog ranking Wisconsin players?
So one year doesn’t count for Penn St but it does Wisconsin? MROB also was on the team for 4 years he was just asked to play different positions to help the team.
It's interesting everyone seems to only remember MRob throwing the game winning pass against Northwestern... and not the horrible 4 turnovers he committed giving NW almost half their points.
But yes... 1 drive against Michigan negates 3 years of brillance for Puz. 2 Bednarik awards, and a Butkis award. Sure.
@roaminglion you must have forgotten that MROB was on the Heisman top 5 list. Don’t think you make that list unless you had a monster season and he was MVP of the big 10. Just deal with it Roam lol
So in your opinion being in the Heisman top 5, is better THAN ACTUALLY WINNING THE AWARD FOR BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER, AND BEST LB TWICE.@roaminglion you must have forgotten that MROB was on the Heisman top 5 list. Don’t think you make that list unless you had a monster season and he was MVP of the big 10. Just deal with it Roam lol
LMAO
Also, there was no award for Big Ten MVP in 2005. Get it right, he was Big Ten co-offensive player of the year. He shared the award with a kid from NW. The MVP you are refrencing is from a newpaper: The Chicago Tribune.
@roaminglion the difference in 2004 team 4-7 vs 2005 11-1 big 10 champs finished #3…..MROB was starting QB in 2005..enough said brother. It’s a sporting crime against Penn St to leave MROB and LJ off that list lol
