Guy is not a rookie. Plenty of documentation of game mismanagement. He is an excellent recruiter, speaks well, and represents the university professionally. I’m not sure we will see improvement in his areas of weakness. I hope I am wrong because an improved Franklin will be great for PSU. Fingers crossed but not optimistic.

Franklin has shown he's capable of 11-2, what we need is to marry that type of roster management and recruiting to better game management. It's not all that hard, IMO just hand the reigns of management to the coordinators and let them do what you hired them to do without meddling.

I can’t wait to see what Diaz does with the defense and his blitz, pressure packages. Hopefully James Franklin keeps his little fingers off the game plan and let’s Manny do what he wants to do. And no more prevent/playing it safe when you have a two point lead!

IMO, JF may have hit the Peter Rule. He may very well be nothing more than a great start up coach with incredible recruiting skills and that is his terminal skill set. I think this year proves that or he jumps up another notch. I could see JF going to schools e.g. Ark, SC, MD, Illinois and doing very well the first 3-5 years, and then same ol same ol. Not meant to be a knock on the guy, just an observation of what he does very well; no different than ceo of other orgs and what is needed at various stages of org development. Very few ceos can run successfully from start up through full maturation.

I believe he let Brent Pry do whatever he wanted on defense during the games. I’m pretty sure Diaz will get the same thing. Hopefully James Franklin sits back and let’s Yurcich do his thing and we light up the scoreboard. It’s the big picture that matters and who cares who gets the credit just win the dang game. It’s James Franklin team and he gets the credit because he recruited the players, hired the coaches and he’s the head coach at Penn St. just get back to winning baby!

Yeah I'd say that's probably true considering he was an OC before getting a HC job.
