Did not see the Blue & White game. Have heard that there may be doubts about Allar. What’s up?
You can see the highlights on YouTube. Some good, some bad. My buddy fears for his pocket unawareness. Not alert. That's how QBs get hurt.
Every freshman has doubts, I've never heard of a new QB that people expressed 100% confidence in.
I probably don't know what I am talking about here, but it seems that Ohio State, GA and Bama can get QB's to contribute at a high level almost immediately. Now, with that said, maybe Allar will be one of those QB's as well. I heard one of the commentators talking about Winston and FSU and how everyone was disappointed at their Spring game and then they went on to win the National Championship that year (2013). They contributed a lot of Winston's success to a how well their defense was that year and compared that to this years Penn State team.
Allar is not a new QB, he did get some playing time time last season, he had a whole year of practicing with a top 10 team and he has two of the best RB's in the country in his backfield. I was a little disappointed at the QB play on Saturday mostly because I was hoping to see some great pass plays and they really just didn't happen. I didn't like the way the Oline played, but then again, if Penn State TRULY has one of the top rated defenses in the country, then maybe that came into play last Saturday as well.
I agree with you, it is hard to put 100% trust in a new starting QB right out of the shoot....whether it is Penn State OR Alabama. But given the fact that Allar has some great weapons at his disposal, what appears to be a top rated defense and just simply hasn't had the opportunity to play 4 quarters from start to finish, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he will be just fine when September rolls around.
GO STATE!!!
