Guys look at the top 25 right now and think of how much fun it would be if we had a 16 team playoff system and everybody else seasons ends. Look at where Penn State is right now with 2 games left and think of how much fun these next 2 games would be because if we were to lose a game we’d probably be out. These next 2 games would also be fun for Rutgers and Michigan St knowing they could spoil our year. It would be like this for the rest of the top 25 teams also. Nobody cares about the bowls anymore so end ‘em and get a 16 team playoff and end the season for all the other teams.

I thought it was already decided it would be 12 and personally think that is the perfect number. Too much money in naming rights and a advertising for the colleges to vote to eliminate the bowls
I'd take 12 or 16. Anything other than the current 4 team beauty contest will be a major improvement.
I'd take 2. I still like the bowl games. I just think it should be 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, ... down through all the bowls. Then you all and the rest of the crazy sports fans would have all year to argue about why your team should have been 1 or 2.

Which is the exact reason I hate 1 vs 2, because I've never seen anyone argue #13 should have been in the title game or given a shot, but I have seen it when #3, #5, and sometimes #8 has that arguement. I'd rather let a few pretenders in than leave out legitimate teams.
@psugrad81 I love bowl season but it’s gettin where most people don’t including players. I’m about keeping people hungry for college football and if it takes just 16 teams that play a few extra games then so be it at least with 16 teams people stay hungry for the season and it’s a bonus if you get to play a few extra games. I’ve always loved the bowl games 81. When have we ever seen our guys sit out of bowl games like last year. I can’t remember any sitting out.
I don't think any sat out when JoePa was running the show. Only one or two that he made sit out, lol.
@southern-psu-fan Well, I believe most of the players that pass on the bowl games are doing so to protect their pro prospects. Do you think they will decide to play 3 more games just to get a ring. That's 3 times the chance to get injured and lose big time in the draft.

Yes, I do think they will. I don't remember any kids ever sitting out of a CFP game, and those rosters are riddled with 1st rounders.

Cancel the playoffs, keep the bowls and give everyone a participation trophy. Then people that do nothing more than golf clap during games and don’t care about wins and losses will be happy!!
16 or 12 works. Many bowl games are now a joke. Maybe set up a tier 2 tournament like the NIT to allow other teams the opportunity to compete. That certainly would be interesting.
