A weird game for Penn State. They were terrible in the 1st half with 8 turnovers and overall poor shooting. Down 35-22 at the half, it looked like Penn State would need a miracle to win this one. And it came in the form of a last second shot by Camren Wynter.
Penn State was behind by as much as 17 at one point in time. But with roughly 6:49 remaining in the game and behind by 12, Penn State staged a comeback that was just marvelous. Tough defense and clutch shooting led to Andrew Funk seemingly tying the game at 63-63 with less than a minute to go. But a review of Funk's clutch shot led to it being declared a 2 point field goal instead of a 3 pointer. So the score was adjusted to 63-62 with Maryland ahead.
In the end, the game was left in Seth Lundy's hands with a 3 pointer with only 5 seconds left. The shot was off but an aggressive Camren Wynter flew to the basket, got a key rebound and put up a shot with only 0.5 seconds left on the clock. The key 2 point shot put Penn State over the top at 65-64 and the BJC went wild.
Jalen Pickett led the Lions with 16 points. Funk contributed 14 and Myles Dread added 11. Camren Wynter had 6 but 2 points of the 6 came with that critical last second shot. A shot that keeps the Lions NCAA tournament hopes alive.
Penn State will play in the #7 - #10 seeded game in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday.
