Penn State has extended an offer to 4-star class of 2019 Safety Keontra Smith. Smith, who is verbally committed to Kentucky hails from Hollywood Florida. He is a top 200 player as he is currently ranked the 187th best player in the country and the number 11 ranked player at his position according to 247 Sports. Smith is the 24th ranked player in the state of Florida.

Keontra Smith is one of the most talented players from a talent-rich state and this is evident by his many suitors. Alabama, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Nebraska, Miami, Auburn, and Oklahoma are just a small sample of the teams competing with the Nittany Lions for this prized recruit.  Though he is currently considered a hard verbal commit to Kentucky, he has recently started to trend towards Miami.

Given the recent trend towards the Hurricanes and the strong stable of teams from the south recruiting Smith, I think It will be tough for Penn State to get Smith to come north. I’d put the odds of landing Smith at less than 25%.
